It is amazing that if you go to Korea, China, Hong Kong, Singapore and the Philippines that they are to this day still angry at the Japanese. Some estimates have it that the Japanese killed up to 10 million people in these countries. Look at Nanking for example. Japan also killed hundreds of thousands of people with biological weapons, more that the atomic bombs. Read about Unit 731. Do you have any doubt that Japan would have used a nuclear weapon if they got it first? I have heard the arguments that Japan was beaten and was going to surrender however If you know anything about how they fought in the Pacific Islands I really doubt they would have surrendered. The bomb was just so overwhelming that they had to surrender. In the end it not only saved American, lives but also the allies lives such as Russian and one thing that is overlooked is it saved Japanese lives as well because of how many would have died during the invasion.
I have no problem with anti-nuke groups and even protests, they emphases how harsh the weapons are, which is part of the deterrence. However I think many of these people are very naive about history and even human nature.
I do not think this prize is deserved but the Peace prize has been very political with lots of odd winners. I do not think this is the worse on ever given out.

China also conducted a number of nuclear tests on his own territory at the Lop Nur site in Xinjiang, which may have killed more people due to their effects than the bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki:

Reportedly, a number of these tests were large above ground tests of "dirty" thermonuclear weapons, and there was little effort taken to reduce the dose to nearby settlements.
Are you implying that Communism killed a lot of people and the leaders do not care about people?
The last time I checked the biggest evil of the last 100 years is Fascisim and we are now fight it again. Now I know no one actually knows what it is, or how
it can be directly connected to the Communism, but half the nation are Fascists if I believe my Facebook friends.
It is amazing how people simply have no concept of politics, they have no idea what Socialism is, what Communism is, or Fascisim is. They have no idea how they can overlap or that that there a tons of variations in them. I had several Political Science classes and even the Professor told me privately that no matter how hard they explain this people simply do not get this.
Ever talk to an Antifa types? I have I haves some family into this but if listen them they actually have an ultra extreme authoritarian view of the world that is most closely aligned with what historians see as actual traditional Fascisim. The irony is at absurd levels. It is simply which group you feel is bad and needs to be eliminated, is it the rich, non-whites, Jews, Muslims, Christians, whites, all of humanity. In the end it all the same philosophy, it is about which group do you want to be in authoritarian.
