I predict in a year pacific fusion will change its name and transition to a defense only company. Their fusion scheme makes no sense as it’s not repetitive and cannot possibly be used for a power plant. Don’t know if their investors know this already. Also, the technology they tout has been around for decades, was heavily promoted by Sandia, and NNSA passed on it.

6:19 is correct. This technology has nothing to do with fusion power plants. It is remarkable how easily DOE bureaucrats and New Mexico politicians are sucked into this circus. They should resign in shame.

Actually, to their credit, NNSA/DOE never bought into the Sandia fusion schemes and big(er) pulsed power machines. This is one of them. The people involved in Pacific fusion tried to get NNSA to fund this effort, but failed. Somehow private investors were more gullible, perhaps because of some sort of defense angle.

Pacific Fusion has a weak case when it comes to fusion schemes. The tokamak people like Commonwealth are way ahead of them, and seem to be more respected in the community. Also, they require a billion dollar “demonstrator”. Their white papers literally say they cannot do repetitive operation with the technology they’re building now. I think the hope for Pacific Fusion is they can build the machine and do a switch to defense work.
