NNSA a threat to trump's bid?

Could the NNSA labs be what will figuratively "nuke" Donald Trumps next presidential bid? https://news.yahoo.com/trump-lacked-power-declassify-secret-100929256.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZHJ1ZGdlcmVwb3J0LmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAK1fX5cikn_B68haX47RkAasPNvtwleI2KNsPnQm_uYU0YzgYgbhNFcYuf25qMk7rvnjI2bShQdZb2JCY2Xh-aRYvf9fvBbLlSGdTxtg8v2qTkQ8WLRvfABHfjKJub2pZDlLB7pzZN-RWuX_A4utukIAWd--IzcRlPLGtnUpteWm WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Even when he was president, Donald Trump lacked the legal authority to declassify a U.S. nuclear weapons-related document that he is charged with illegally possessing, security experts said, contrary to the former U.S. president’s claim. The secret document, listed as No. 19 in the indictment charging Trump with endangering national security, can under the Atomic Energy Act only be declassified through a process that by the statute involves the Department of Energy and the Department of Defense. For that reason, the experts ...

Where are LANS managers?

LANS Managers after the Transition to Triad? It has been years now since the LANS for-profit contractor was removed from LANL. What happened to all the LANS managers popular and not so popular, after Triad took over LANL management? Did they stay more or less in their respective positions, given the boot, blend into the woodwork, or did they become born again Triad managers?

DOE get two ransom notices

https://news.yahoo.com/us-energy-dept-got-two-201406903.html LANL cowboys scientist screw up yet again. https://www.reuters.com/technology/us-energy-dept-got-two-ransom-requests-cl0p-data-breach-2023-06-16/ U.S. Energy Dept gets two ransom notices as MOVEit hack claims more victims. The DOE contractor Oak Ridge Associated Universities and the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant, the New Mexico-based facility for disposal of defense-related radioactive nuclear waste, were hit in the attack, which was first reported on Thursday. WIP was a disaster due to the cowboy scientists at LANL. A bunch of people from LANL have moved to ORNL and made it go cowboy. Nanos was right as long as there are cowboys or scientists at LANL we will have problems. What is done at LANL that cannot be done elsewhere? Yet another scandal. You guys got rid of Bechtel and here we are 3 yeas latter with cowboys riding horses.

Are we really doing this?

According to Business Insider,  The US is sending $1 billion every year to Russia's nuclear program, despite pledging to cripple its economy with sanctions   https://www.businessinsider.com/us-1-billion-russia-nuclear-agency-sanctions-ukraine-zaporizhzhia-2023-6

Anti LANL activists group go nuclear on each other.

Anti LANL activists group go nuclear on each other. Greg Mellos Los Almos Study group continues to lob bombs at the Nuclear Watch group which fires back with missiles. It is amusing watching these two groups in all out exchange to see which will be the last activist group standing. I will live you these little gems from the paper. Jay Coghlan NucWatch, has to take a swipe at Greg "You clearly relish infighting with other activists given your decades-old pattern of attacking those who don’t agree with your self-righteous views. But your very judgment is flawed. This is to be expected given that you are part of the surrender crowd to Putin’s genocidal war in Ukraine (which started in Syria, which started in Chechnya). See " Greg Mello "Jay, I am not "infighting" with you. I just don't agree with you. We are not on the same side at all, on most issues." The peoples front of Judea vs Judean people front.

AI poses ‘risk of extinction’

Are the labs and nukes irrelevant now with the coming AI age? For past 80 years nuclear war has been the biggest immediate threat to humanity with LLNL and LANL being part of this. Now the the real threat is AI, does that mean the labs are irrelevant and we should close them down and make a new project to fight AI, call the Brooklyn project where we assemble the best minds to create a AI to to protect humanity against other AIs? I it is starting to look that way so we better start rethinking our budget and science priorities if we are go survive. As such the importance of the labs must fade. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/ai-poses-risk-of-extinction-on-par-with-nukes-tech-leaders-say/ar-AA1bT5yh

LLNL Salary comparison

Salary ratios at LLNL before and after the 2007 transition from UC/LLNL to LLNS Have the salary ratios of the employees listed below changed if we use pre-2007 salary ratios as a baseline, or have these ratios been fairly constant through 2023? 1. Division Leader to Engineer (non-manager) 2. Group Leader to Engineer (non-manager) 3. Supervisor to Tech Associate (non-manager) 4. other The reasoning or support for salary differences between manager and non-managers is not in question for this topic. The ratio of those salaries (1-4) pre and post transition, is the question asked.

162 top US nuclear researchers working for China

In September 2020, a former LANL scientist was sentenced to probation and fined for lying about his participation in a Chinese state-sponsored recruitment program. The report offered DOE seven recommendations for its insider threat program. In a written response included in the report, the DOE said it agreed with all the recommendations and provided plans to address them. https://www.theepochtimes.com/162-researchers-from-top-us-nuclear-facility-now-working-for-china-report_4748811.html
