Rumor: The Lab is going to do away with adjusted alternate work schedules.

Fact: This is incorrect. While the Laboratory has been reworking the policies and procedures on adjusted alternate work schedules, necessitated by the transition from a public to private contract manager, there is no plan to do away with the adjusted alternate schedules.

Fact # 2 : The shops, meaning 321 manufacturing are now on fixed hours working hours starting June 1st

5 / 8's from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
9 / 80's from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM
4-10 done away with entirely.

Standby for standardization across the lab. I wonder why they didn't make it effective across the entire lab come June 1st for "ALL" employees. Could it be that ULM couldn't get their butts out of bed at 6:00 AM and if they standardized it across the board they'd have to abide by the same rules. We couldn't have that could we?

If these are going to be the working hours then we are right back to an original request. Get the Greenville gate open at 6:00AM instead of 6:30 AM. Maybe the people that're making these rules can give up some of their ungodly salary and put in a cane booth. What a concept. I'm beginning to wonder if they had the funds could they get this done by Oct 1st, 2008. At least we'd have something to celebrate come FY_09. I see they're going to hack down some trees in that area. Could it be a wish come true? Maybe that's just the new Startrek transporter they're putting in for a quick RIF response.

A dream come true.

"New double-door portals to accommodate controlled entry/exit access at the East Avenueand Vasco Road gate and Eastgate Drive and Greenville Road entrance will begin May 10. Bicycle and pedestrian traffic will be disrupted at these two locations. Observe all traffic detours, warning signs and barricade lines. This project is scheduled for completion by July 12."

Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. The budget has a 20% decrease to DOE office of science, 20% cut to NIH. NASA also gets a cut. This will  have a huge negative effect on the lab. Crazy, juts crazy. He also wants to cut NEA and PBS, this may not seem like  a big deal but they get very little money and do great things.
