From the Huffington Post Why Workplace Jargon Is A Big Problem http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/04/25/work-words_n_5159868.html?utm_hp_ref=business&ir=Business When we replace a specific task with a vague expression, we grant the task more magnitude than it deserves. If we don't describe an activity plainly, it seems less like an easily achievable goal and more like a cloudy state of existence that fills unknowable amounts of time. A fog of fast and empty language has seeped into the workplace. I say it's time we air it out, making room for simple, concrete words, and, therefore, more deliberate actions. By striking the following 26 words from your speech, I think you'll find that you're not quite as overwhelmed as you thought you were. Count the number that LLNLs mangers use. touch base circle back bandwidth - impactful - utilize - table the discussion deep dive - engagement - viral value-add - one-sheet deliverable - work product - incentivise - take it to the ...

There were a couple of good editorials in the local papers recently, but that's about it. Some employees know more than others, but there's only so many folks you can individually ask: "So, how's it going?" I may not work at the Lab (anymore), but people close to me do, so I have a very very vested interest in what's going on behind the fence.
So, thank you, Scooby and Dooby, for keeping this blog up and going! It's gotta take a lot of time and I, for one, really appreciate your efforts.
Scooby and Doobydew appreciate your words of appreciation!

To: Do you think this blog has any value other than a place for malcontents to express their narrow view of the world?
This must be a Bechtel sympathizer and a term appointment to boot. The blog is a place where people can vent their emotions. Venting can help prevent stupid acts at work. You must not understand how the death of a great institution affects us. I have spent the majority of my adult life at the Lab. The Lab has been killed by the DOE and the carpetbaggers that took over. One must go through the greiving process. I think we are in the anger phase. It may last, as there is little that can be done. I think if you don't like what you read, possibly you might do the adult thing and skip reading the blog.

No? What about LETTERS TO YOUR CONGRESSMAN post. CALL 60 MINUTES post. GET AN ATTORNEY AND SUE post. DUMP LLNS CONTRACT post etc. It seems everything on this blog is "a call to action".
I never accept anything on this blog as fact though. Except for the Nazi dirtbag, he seems to have is act together.
I suspect that ULM are quietly embarassed at the plight of the lab; they won't read this often because the fracture of the once cohesive workforce during their tenure is painful to face.'
