weeee!
"more than a Hour????" In my area we were out there for close to 2 1/2 hours. It really was a great time to talk about the old days and what lies ahead and when we would like to bale out
Try almost 2 hours. What a waste of time.
Your tax dollars at work!
This was insane. We had everyone accounted for in less than 5 minutes. If the safety weenies want to play their games, they should do so without us. It took 45 minutes for the EOC to be activated.
better, faster, cheaper---NOT
As I heard it, thanks to last year's layoffs, they don't have enough volunteer staff in the emergency center to process the waves of information coming in - and this slowed down getting employees accounted for and released to work. Keep in mind they have to account for every single person that is on site before people can be let go.
This is why we had the RIF so we could pay for these dire health and safety exercises.
More of the same is heading our way, courtesy of LLNS. Get ready to eat it up!
If anyone thinks that in a real earthquake I would stay at the Lab for some safety weenies to check a box, he is mistaken.
I would be in the car and gone. The guards would need to lock the gates to stop the evacuation.
This is ridiculous; we have more to do (thanks to attrition and no hiring)and the same hours to do it in. What a waste of time!
The drills have become more of a joke over the years. It should take no more than 5 minutes to do a head count for a large building and get a report on it's way.
The lab largely phased out Search and Rescue teams a couple of years ago - citing liability reasons. Meaning if you're injured and trapped inside you'll be left to die.
With the changes in security barriers a few years ago, closing of gates and reductions in staffing you can be assured that not even Lab Fire personnel would be able to reach you in time to treat simple shock or bleeding.
Also note this. A suggestion was floated to add clotting agent kits to the first-aid boxes. Similar to what is used to treat soldiers with severe trauma. Lab medical approved of the idea, but the bean counters nixed it as too expensive. Shows nicely the price they put on employee's lives.
So those 2 hrs outside were more than a waste of time. The whole safety program is a sham. You'd best be taking those hours finding a way to protect yourselves, because the Lab is not going to help you a bit.
Protecting yourself without proper authorization is subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.
Protecting yourelf or others can get you punished...
Too fricking bad. I have a higher sense of morals than those idiots in ULM that set policies like that. The morons in B111 are welcome to fire me after I save my friends. I'd love to sit in a courtroom with those same friends explaining why a company attempted to murder them and someone got fired for intervening.
