I'm sure LANS/LLNS would declare this vote a resounding "success". Speaking of polls or upward appraisals, what ever happened to the upward appraisal conducted at LANS during the Anastasio era? The LANS/LLNS management maintain the philosophy "if we wait long enough the staff (i.e. minions) will forget about it" . Wrong!
Some aspects of the privatization have been beneficial while others disasterous. At least at the middle management level they are putting in place at least a few better (standard) management practices. The top managers however show little interest in the lab's function of doing the science. And the bloated upper management has gotten even larger, and it was top heavy before they arrived. They should cut about half the management to get our costs down, not that I think they would ever, ever do that.
