How is going the shutdown going to affect you?

Assuming there is a shutdown tomorrow, I'd like to get some current lab employees' contact info so I can talk to them about how they're being affected. I figured this site was just as good a place as any to start. They can be anonymous if they choose, but it's best if they will allow us to freely use their names. Can you help me out with this? I think this hits the nail on the head. print this in your newspaper and don't forget to site the URL so the world can get a good laugh out of all this since it may be their last.

There are some very creative people in the world. I suspect the lyrics of 1week, two, weeks, three weeks, month, 5,6,7, take the summer off may in fact come true with a $17T national debt and $126T unfunded liabilities over our heads. I’m actually surprised we haven’t had another 1929 already and I believe the only thing that preventing it is the treasury is pumping billion of fake money into the economy monthly is has all caught up with us. I don’t know how this US is going to make it thru this without cutting a lot of funds in many places. http://llnlthetruestory.blogspot.com/2013/10/doe-furlough-song.html

As a reporter, you should really check the grammar of the title of your post.

IMHO, here's my take on todays economy

I often wished I was a graphic animated artist so I could give you a visual of today’s economic situations in a manner anyone could comprehend. Since I’m not I'll try my best to give you my vision verbally. Imagine yourself standing in front of a toilet you’ve just flushed. Take notice of the water and its speed at the top of the forming vortex relative to the bottom closet to the u-trap just before it goes over the hump. Now imagine yourself on small ship proudly flying the economic flag of prosperity in these waters. In 2006 we were at the top of the bowl picking up speed with just enough centrifugal force to turn the ship sideways as we made economic decisions we hoped would put the brakes and return to the upright position. As you can see it's now 2013 and we've picked up speed and are now at the bottom of the vortex with the ship now almost perpendicular to the floor and moving at warp fact six, where in a very short period of time we’ll be over the hump and into the one world order cesspool where there will be no recovery; and yet Barrack Hussein Obama, his socialist cartel associates and followers say, full speed ahead, raise the debt ceiling, we're fine; all while faced with a reality an economic disaster even a moron can understand.

Is LLNL going to shut down and if so when and for hot long. Can the people hold on without a budget if this goes to Jan 2104?

Nope, don't plan on even being alive in 2104.

Plutonium Shots on NIF.

Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. The stupidity arises from the fact that a huge population is placed at risk in the short and long term. Why do this kind of experiment in a heavily populated area? Only a moron would push that kind of imbecile area. Do it somewhere else in the god forsaken hills of Los Alamos. Why should the communities in the Bay Area be subjected to such increased risk just because the lab's NIF has failed twice and is trying the Hail Mary pass of doing an SNM experiment just to justify their existence? Those Laser EoS techniques and the people analyzing the raw data are all just BAD anyways. You know what comes next after they do the experiment. They'll figure out that they need larger samples. More risk for the local population. Stop this imbecilic pursuit. They wan...

Trump is to gut the labs.

The budget has a 20% decrease to DOE office of science, 20% cut to NIH. NASA also gets a cut. This will  have a huge negative effect on the lab. Crazy, juts crazy. He also wants to cut NEA and PBS, this may not seem like  a big deal but they get very little money and do great things.

LLNL un-diversity

Actual post from Dec. 15 from one of the streams. This is a real topic. As far as promoting women and minorities even if their qualifications are not as good as the white male scientists, I am all for it. We need diversity at the lab and if that is what it takes, so be it.  Quit your whining. Look around the lab, what do you see? White male geezers. How many African Americans do you see at the lab? Virtually none. LLNL is one of the MOST undiverse places you will see. Face it folks, LLNL is an institution of white male privilege and they don't want to give up their privileged positions. California, a state of majority Hispanics has the "crown jewel" LLNL nestled in the middle of it with very FEW Hispanics at all!
