NIF breakthrough!

Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. The stupidity arises from the fact that a huge population is placed at risk in the short and long term. Why do this kind of experiment in a heavily populated area? Only a moron would push that kind of imbecile area. Do it somewhere else in the god forsaken hills of Los Alamos. Why should the communities in the Bay Area be subjected to such increased risk just because the lab's NIF has failed twice and is trying the Hail Mary pass of doing an SNM experiment just to justify their existence? Those Laser EoS techniques and the people analyzing the raw data are all just BAD anyways. You know what comes next after they do the experiment. They'll figure out that they need larger samples. More risk for the local population. Stop this imbecilic pursuit. They wan...

I don't think they GAF since they know NIF's a joke and regret the government didn't spend the $7.5B on power plants that work. Hell even the new locks at the Panama canal are only going to cost $5B and they'll generate revenue for the world in excess of any $$ amount you could ever dream of short of the nation debt and our unfunded liabilities. Some want to put money into things that word while other just want to use the tax payer money to keep their jobs.
Good try but that not good enough to justify $7.5B + and growing for nothing. Both wars were a waste but even the wars brought drones for many more reasons other than observations, better communications monitoring, smart weapons, and made us all aware our enemies live alongside us. I'm sad it didn't bring closure of all points of entry into the US and the purging of all the terrorist we have living here in the US by immediate deportation. I guess we'll never learn.

Your wish is about to happen, the US will become energy independent in just a few years. Thanks to hydraulic fracturing technology, the US reserves have doubled in the past two years. No more reliance in the Middle East for oil. This frees up US global foreign policy to do good instead of bad things.
No show stoppers. We need natural gas options for new cars, natural gas conversion plans (where applicable) for our existing cars, large scale infrastructure upgrades for natural gas filling stations, and perhaps natural gas hardware to fill up at home.
If we had a coherent natural gas energy plan, the price of oil would drop. As long as we stumble without an energy strategic plan, OPEC laughs all the way to the bank.
