I see the news reported by Scooby as fair. He does allow opposing viewpoints to post, sometimes to excess - but that is up to him to moderate.

These days you hear less about LLNL and more of Los Alamos. Without passing judgement on individual posting I just wish there were more "local" threads. And do note an uptick in that area recently, hope it continues.

If anyone wants a fair and balanced picture of LLNL, glassdoor is the last place to look. The glowing positive posts are mostly put there by identifiable people who want to kiss some management ass, or are written deliberately to attract job applicants. Meanwhile, the really negative posts are from people with personal axes to grind. The vast majority of employees don't post either here or on glassdoor, and go about their daily lives not caring to voice an opinion or influence anyone else.

But at least here, it's simple and easy to post anonymously, no sign up or email or phone texts required. Unfortunately, it's been partly taken over by bitter LANL people.

There are only one or two posters on this blog who refer to people as "bitter." At the end of a well-constructed and useful post, you give yourself away, and all your previous posts are recalled.

Thank you for the demonstration, bitter Los Alamos poster child.

Bitter is as bitter does.

Bitter: The opposite of sweet. So yeah, unless you are a woman, or a man that likes being considered "sweet" by other men, you are probably appropriately called "bitter." No further meaning is necessary or meaningful. Unless you are a Bechtel hack.

Please filter the lanl crowd. I could care less about them and they are clogging up our thread space.

You meant "I couldn't care less." Think about it.

I have thought about it. I didn't mean " I couldn't'care less". No one cares less than I or anyone. Think about it.

Was at LANL, now I'm at LLNL and I love it. LANL is turned into a S!$t hole with all the redneck Bechtel clean up crew from west VA. This one particular ass wipe who looks like the douche from duck dynasty riding around town with a giant confederate flag plastered on his F150. When he gets out of his car he's wearing a confederate flag shirt with writing on it saying,"If this flag offends you, then you don't know your history." That is what the town has been reduced to, a far cry when you had Feynman, Oppie, Fermi, running around int it. Absolute shame and detriment to this country.

So if no one cares less, then you couldn't care less than you do, right? If you "could care less," then you don't care as little as you could, and someone else could also care less, right? Thank you for making my point. Just curious, what is your first language?

You are babbling. If you don't understand the phrase I suggest you do a little research ( in your native tongue) and get back to us once you are enlightened.

You "could care less" says clearly that you don't care as little as you could, i.e., you care more than not caring at all. You "couldn't care less" is self-explanatory. QED.
At least I studied my native tongue.

Plutonium Shots on NIF.

Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. The stupidity arises from the fact that a huge population is placed at risk in the short and long term. Why do this kind of experiment in a heavily populated area? Only a moron would push that kind of imbecile area. Do it somewhere else in the god forsaken hills of Los Alamos. Why should the communities in the Bay Area be subjected to such increased risk just because the lab's NIF has failed twice and is trying the Hail Mary pass of doing an SNM experiment just to justify their existence? Those Laser EoS techniques and the people analyzing the raw data are all just BAD anyways. You know what comes next after they do the experiment. They'll figure out that they need larger samples. More risk for the local population. Stop this imbecilic pursuit. They wan...

Trump is to gut the labs.

The budget has a 20% decrease to DOE office of science, 20% cut to NIH. NASA also gets a cut. This will  have a huge negative effect on the lab. Crazy, juts crazy. He also wants to cut NEA and PBS, this may not seem like  a big deal but they get very little money and do great things.

LLNL un-diversity

Actual post from Dec. 15 from one of the streams. This is a real topic. As far as promoting women and minorities even if their qualifications are not as good as the white male scientists, I am all for it. We need diversity at the lab and if that is what it takes, so be it.  Quit your whining. Look around the lab, what do you see? White male geezers. How many African Americans do you see at the lab? Virtually none. LLNL is one of the MOST undiverse places you will see. Face it folks, LLNL is an institution of white male privilege and they don't want to give up their privileged positions. California, a state of majority Hispanics has the "crown jewel" LLNL nestled in the middle of it with very FEW Hispanics at all!
