Will he make the labs great again?

It will be interesting times at the labs. Could hurt some of the "science" fringe doing BES energy research, putting shrimp on treadmills and measuring penis dimension statistics. But he could also double down on nuclear modernization and WFO work.

Care to provide example of this? Or, since we got Trump; this is what we will have to deal with? Just throw some stuff devoid of facts out and wait for the response?
Here comes my response: There are still some people left in this country who believe in facts, and so my question stands:
Give examples of this .

"The Donald" is the only President with enough sense to know that the stockpile cannot be "modernized" to keep up with Russia and China without nuclear testing. And, he is the only Presidential choice that has the guts to go against world opinion and return to underground testing. The present moratorium on testing was foisted off under the guise of preventing proliferation; Pakistan, India, North Korea, and Iran have proven it to be a complete failure for that Pollyanna goal. I sure hope that those in charge of the Readiness Program aren't asleep at the switch!!

What a crock! Since you have never heard Trump say any of those things, you are just projecting your wishes, Good luck with that, Mary Poppins. No one, not even Trump, knows what Trump will do.

It won't mean anything. Hamm is being brought in to deal with some specific energy issues, which is a small part of DOE's budget. He'll be as befuddled as every other outsider who finds themselves sitting on the nuclear weapons morass. The talk will change, but the facts on the ground will remain the same.

Nobody cares about the weapons complex. We have weapons so we have to have some kind of weapons complex. They just want it to limp along and not hear about it.

True, but how is this different than any other DOE head, you can bash Obama all you want but Monez and Chu had some clue.

Ok some comparisons

Bill Richardson, hmm that worked out well.

Federico Peña, a lawyer ?

Hazel R. O'Leary, ...of f*ck that sucked.

James D. Watkins, ok knows something

John S. Herrington, another lawyer, great

Donald P. Hodel, lawyer but had a clue

James B. Edwards, wow a dentist but he at least he had the decency to die.

Charles Duncan Jr. a bad cup of coffee anyone?

Rod Blagojevich, expected to be the head of DOE.

So Hamm fits it just as nicely as anyone else.

Chu was the moron who recommended that we paint our roofs white to counter global warming. No kidding. Chu also wasted billions on "green" energy, remember Solyndra? Solyndra was just the tip of the iceberg.

Moniz was the moron who got duped by Iran.

Shows real class calling anyone you do not agree with a moron.

Contrary to you Chu has a Nobel price, Moniz is a world renowned physicist.

The Nobel prize (not price) committee has already established that they will give their prize to anyone who follows their agenda whether that person deserves the prize or not. Irrespective, anyone (Chu) who tells everyone to paint their roofs white IS a moron. You probably don't see it this way because you don't know why telling everyone to paint their roof white is a stupid idea.

Likewise, any American (Moniz) who forges an agreement with Iran that shuts all Americans out of Iran inspections IS a moron.

Thanks for pointing out the spelling mistake. My fault.

The rest of the message is still the same. Calling people you disagree with morons
is actually more an indication of a lack of arguments than serious knowledge.

So, having established this, I will leave it at this and let you continue to be bitter.

My only hope is that one day, you will realize that democracy and scientific discourse are based on mutual respect and honest discussions, and not on slogans and name calling.

I still wish you a wonderful day.

Sorry Nov. 17, you fail. The name calling was deserved because of Chu and Moniz's extremely poor performance. I gave reasons why anyone can see that their performance was at or below the moron level (paint your roof white, invest in "green" companies that are sure to go bankrupt, block Americans from inspecting Iran). YOU were the one who had no arguments to refute.

Want to influence opinion? Address the issues with facts, logic, and data. Don't just attack the messenger. Attacking the messenger doesn't work.

Plutonium Shots on NIF.

Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. The stupidity arises from the fact that a huge population is placed at risk in the short and long term. Why do this kind of experiment in a heavily populated area? Only a moron would push that kind of imbecile area. Do it somewhere else in the god forsaken hills of Los Alamos. Why should the communities in the Bay Area be subjected to such increased risk just because the lab's NIF has failed twice and is trying the Hail Mary pass of doing an SNM experiment just to justify their existence? Those Laser EoS techniques and the people analyzing the raw data are all just BAD anyways. You know what comes next after they do the experiment. They'll figure out that they need larger samples. More risk for the local population. Stop this imbecilic pursuit. They wan...

Trump is to gut the labs.

The budget has a 20% decrease to DOE office of science, 20% cut to NIH. NASA also gets a cut. This will  have a huge negative effect on the lab. Crazy, juts crazy. He also wants to cut NEA and PBS, this may not seem like  a big deal but they get very little money and do great things.

LLNL un-diversity

Actual post from Dec. 15 from one of the streams. This is a real topic. As far as promoting women and minorities even if their qualifications are not as good as the white male scientists, I am all for it. We need diversity at the lab and if that is what it takes, so be it.  Quit your whining. Look around the lab, what do you see? White male geezers. How many African Americans do you see at the lab? Virtually none. LLNL is one of the MOST undiverse places you will see. Face it folks, LLNL is an institution of white male privilege and they don't want to give up their privileged positions. California, a state of majority Hispanics has the "crown jewel" LLNL nestled in the middle of it with very FEW Hispanics at all!
