Has DOE reached an inflection point regarding their response to whistleblower complaints against contractors?

A less technical term when asking an essentially political question might elicit more cogent answers. Not every subject has to be discussed in technical terms that only a fraction of your audience understands (although your delight in that fact is evident). Try to be more human.

Here comes the grammar cop.

A few Senators were carefully following the Sandra Black case and they are waiting to see if SRNS managers will be held directly accountable for their improper retaliatory behavior. I don't think the Sandra Black reinstatement and backpay decision alone signal a change at DOE.

9:32 PM, you're likely underestimating the audience, given the subject of the blog. I'll bet most people here do understand the term "inflection point" and those who don't can look it up. You can too.

Try to be less stupid.

2:13 PM. I certainly do understand "inflection point." It's just that unlike you, I tend to have respect for the audience I'm "speaking" to, and don't feel the need to poke my education in people's eyes. If you think most of the posters on this blog are as technically well-educated as you, you must be new here. And one of the reasons for the "I hate arrogant scientists" guy's rants. But yeah, I'm the stupid one.

3:46 is correct in the very last sentence.

5:20 is another arrogant scientist. Is this endless rotation necessary? Probably, considering the equation: LLNL scientist on the LLNL blog = arrogant asshole scientist with no social skills.

You are the one with no social skills, 8:36. None at all. See how quickly you humiliated yourself by insulting an entire diverse group of people?
Anonymous said…
I am 100% sure that 8:36 does not feel humiliated. The absolute beauty of an anonymous blog.

Respectfully, please stay on topic.

This blog is trash. As evidenced by this comment thread.

Just take it down.

Why don't the guards at Livermore carry tasers, asp's or batons to avoid the extreme jump in escalation of force? LLNL is a Cat 3 facility and they carry handguns and rifles? Isn't this a wrongful death lawsuit just waiting to happen? How's this for staying on topic? So sad that the LLNL blog has been taken over by LANL. They can't track classified material, equipment or tweekers yet they continue to get contracts? Whaaat? Time to get a case of beer and head to the canyon!!

Plutonium Shots on NIF.

Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. The stupidity arises from the fact that a huge population is placed at risk in the short and long term. Why do this kind of experiment in a heavily populated area? Only a moron would push that kind of imbecile area. Do it somewhere else in the god forsaken hills of Los Alamos. Why should the communities in the Bay Area be subjected to such increased risk just because the lab's NIF has failed twice and is trying the Hail Mary pass of doing an SNM experiment just to justify their existence? Those Laser EoS techniques and the people analyzing the raw data are all just BAD anyways. You know what comes next after they do the experiment. They'll figure out that they need larger samples. More risk for the local population. Stop this imbecilic pursuit. They wan...

Trump is to gut the labs.

The budget has a 20% decrease to DOE office of science, 20% cut to NIH. NASA also gets a cut. This will  have a huge negative effect on the lab. Crazy, juts crazy. He also wants to cut NEA and PBS, this may not seem like  a big deal but they get very little money and do great things.

LLNL un-diversity

Actual post from Dec. 15 from one of the streams. This is a real topic. As far as promoting women and minorities even if their qualifications are not as good as the white male scientists, I am all for it. We need diversity at the lab and if that is what it takes, so be it.  Quit your whining. Look around the lab, what do you see? White male geezers. How many African Americans do you see at the lab? Virtually none. LLNL is one of the MOST undiverse places you will see. Face it folks, LLNL is an institution of white male privilege and they don't want to give up their privileged positions. California, a state of majority Hispanics has the "crown jewel" LLNL nestled in the middle of it with very FEW Hispanics at all!
