FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe

FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe fired with significant pension and family medical benefits lost for allegedly misleading investigators "Under the rules of FERS, that means he could be left with the standard multiplier of 1% on top of his years of service, down from the 1.7% enhanced rate for law enforcement. Former FBI officials tell CNN that McCabe could also lose out on future health care coverage in his retirement if he were to be fired before he turned 50, and the firing could be subject to litigation. The "most significant 'damage' to a separated FBI employee is: loss of lifetime medical benefits for self and family," https://www.cnn.com/2018/03/16/politics/andrew-mccabe-pension-if-fired/index.html

How is this a "National Lab related issue", which is supposed to be on-topic here? At best this thread will generate a food fight of polarized political opinions. For example, mine: The guy got what he deserved for failing the ethics litmus test, and he had to be made into an example for the greater good.

McCabe can sue the DOJ. Yes McCabe, please open up that can of worms ! Some Fed prosecutors are just waiting for you to trigger an expanded investigation into your double dealing and corruption. Remember, "let's meet in Andy's office to discuss how to stop the soon to be inaugurated President".

It may have come down to this. They discovered evidence that he may have committed perjury since the released statement was that he was not candid while under oath. Now if criminal charges are brought would the defense argue that FBI rules state if he was not candid (whether or not under oath), there would be grounds to be fired. And if he was not fired for possibly a non-criminal offense which was a lower threshold than perjury, would it not follow he should not be charged with a crime?

Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.

Under TCP2 (401k matching program), there would not seem to be any consequence to being fired. Am I right ? However under TCP2 (pension plan) would the pension rights be taken away with a firing for cause ? Question to HR ?

Both the DOJ Inspector General and the FBI's own Office of Professional Responsibility concluded that McCabe should be fired. So Sessions fired him. Nothing to whine about here, move on.

Plutonium Shots on NIF.

Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. The stupidity arises from the fact that a huge population is placed at risk in the short and long term. Why do this kind of experiment in a heavily populated area? Only a moron would push that kind of imbecile area. Do it somewhere else in the god forsaken hills of Los Alamos. Why should the communities in the Bay Area be subjected to such increased risk just because the lab's NIF has failed twice and is trying the Hail Mary pass of doing an SNM experiment just to justify their existence? Those Laser EoS techniques and the people analyzing the raw data are all just BAD anyways. You know what comes next after they do the experiment. They'll figure out that they need larger samples. More risk for the local population. Stop this imbecilic pursuit. They wan...

Trump is to gut the labs.

The budget has a 20% decrease to DOE office of science, 20% cut to NIH. NASA also gets a cut. This will  have a huge negative effect on the lab. Crazy, juts crazy. He also wants to cut NEA and PBS, this may not seem like  a big deal but they get very little money and do great things.

LLNL un-diversity

Actual post from Dec. 15 from one of the streams. This is a real topic. As far as promoting women and minorities even if their qualifications are not as good as the white male scientists, I am all for it. We need diversity at the lab and if that is what it takes, so be it.  Quit your whining. Look around the lab, what do you see? White male geezers. How many African Americans do you see at the lab? Virtually none. LLNL is one of the MOST undiverse places you will see. Face it folks, LLNL is an institution of white male privilege and they don't want to give up their privileged positions. California, a state of majority Hispanics has the "crown jewel" LLNL nestled in the middle of it with very FEW Hispanics at all!
