Bechtel at LLNS

Bechtel is out of LANL, so how does this change things at LLNL between UC and Bechtel. I cannot imagine that they will be getting along very well now.

Bechtel will not self-exit from LLNS if that's what your getting at. Check valve profits are still in play for all LLNS corporate members.

Finally Livermore will get what they deserve.

Ah. You mean that after a year or so of Triad running LANL no worse than LANS, at a considerable cost reduction thanks to Triad’s non-profit status, the government will re-bid the LLNL M&O contract to get a similar savings there, thus eventually ridding Livermore of the profit-leaching Bechtel, so that both Labs can return to focusing on mission in the public interest, which is what Livermore deserves.

Yes. We all agree. Thank you.

Bechtel is not walking away from the millions of dollars it gets virtually free every year being part of LLNS. The amount of effort (or money) that Bechtel actually puts into LLNS is almost zero. UC puts its share of the LLNS management fee back into joint campus-lab research projects and sponsoring student internships at LLNL.. Bechtel puts it into its bank account.
