LLNS may have excluded the wrong people in last VSSOP? The exclusions were based on outdated job categories and related skills. ULM are now thinking that in the future, job categories and functional areas will have to be re-defined. The next VSSOP/ISP will be based on the new categories and functional areas. The questions I have are: 1) Why didnt they think of that before the transition. It seems like their style is “change things as you go”. Planning is out the window! 2) Who will give input on the new changes? The next RIF apparently is going to be more lucrative than the VSSOP. Depending on the length of employment, a RIFed person, not only gets their 1 week pay per year of service but also from 30 to 120 days notice, essentially 30 to 120 days pay. Please feel free to comment on the rumors or add new ones you actually heard.

How on earth did you come to this conclusion? This is a problem with CU Boulder, not LANL. Look I know you really really hate LANL but this is not the problem of LANL. What is you issue? Just let it go

Great tongue-in-cheek comment.
have to pay the money back to NNSA? Wow.
Wow over the rainbow, totally crazy.
Another issue on the Triad to do list.
From reading the article it looks like this all went down after 2006 which is also coincides with LANS coming in and the change of the lab from service to for profit. I am sure that Bechtel and other contractors wanted fast and loose rules for "external contracts". If LANL had any culpability than it would likely be with the new entities that came in after 2006. Just another reason to be happy that Bechtel is gone.
I think the LANL hater is just desperate for something to bash LANL with. There is probably more to the story but I would bet it has to do with CU rather than LANL, but hey a haters got to hate.

I don't understand the prejudice against "haters." Aren't hateful things worthy of hate? Is there nothing despicable enough to hate? Doesn't hate give you focus on the good things in life? How else to tell the difference? Or don't you think there is a difference between good and hateful? Makes no sense to me. I find hate to be a very useful and valuable emotion, when applied appropriately and with rational thought.

Assuming you are not a troll, than yes of course there are things in life to detest or hate. Things like injustice, crime, dishonesty, deception, the usual pack of things that are generally universally considered bad. The problem with some of the posters is not so much hate but obsession that someones complete identity is completely tied to hating LANL. In other words hate towards something that is worthy of hate can be valuable but hate towards something that is not founded in reality but founded in delusion is almost always bad usually for the person with the hate. You can hate specific things in life but if the only thing you have in life is just hatred for something that is not very valuable especially if that thing is not even worthy of hate on any rational level. Let a hater hate is the same as saying that crazy people believe what crazy people believe.
The so called LANL haters are kind of fascinating as I have meet a few in real life. They seem to share many things in common with others who express a similar all consuming obsessive hatred towards certain groups, religions, political groups ect. They all have the same attitude that if we just got rid "those people" or "those institutions" everything would be right with the world. By interacting with them you can understand better how certain totalitarian regimes or cults have come about in which ones needs a very well defined enemy to hate at all costs and only when that enemy is gone will we be saved. The odd part is that rational for such hatred is always lacking.
INL specialists left plutonium in their car. In the morning, it was gone

This is what happens when you let cowboy scientists do things you get this. Now of course this is not actually LANL people but the LANL cowboy culture can infests anything including Idaho National Lab, after all we all know that LANL has been and will always be the only lab with problems so therefore this is a LANL problem. We also know UC ran the labs so therefore this is UCs fault. See how this works!

You must be a Bechtel guy, always trying to deflect the blame. Look all I am saying is that that contract changed 2006, this stuff happened right after that...what is the new element...Bechtel. Is this a random or is there more to it, look at all the bad things that have happened since Bechtel came in and you will see a trend.
