This blog isn't all that wonderful anyway

Scooby will delete this but I'll post it anyway. Seems any time he doesn't like the direction posts are taking, even if they are on point and the posters are engaged actively, he disables comments. I truly believe he is trying to shut down this blog without having to take the blame for doing so. Just do it, Scooby. This blog isn't all that wonderful anyway. No one is going to miss it all that much, except for the anti-science guy, whom you seem to love. Enough already. Kill it before it rots from the inside.

As a recent retiree I’m pleased that this blog exists so that I will be able to occasionally check in and get a little bit of latest gossip and insider info about what’s going on at the Lab. Hope that the blog continues on.

Asa LANL employee, I enjoy reading about the misadventures of the DOE/NNSA Enterprise. It is as screwed up as this country is. Our engineering sucks. Our educational system is in the toilet. Areas of California look more like a third world country than the utopia that is could be.

I hope that the blog continues on because I find it an interesting read. Hoe else can I read about the lates5 Triad screw ups. Keep it up guys.

Excuse me but our "engineering" rocks, Facebook, Google, Yahoo, Amazon.

"Our educational system is in the toilet" Yes if you are in a Red state.

"Areas of California look more like a third world country than the utopia that is could be.""

That is because their are groups of republican capitalist who refuse to share the wealth that was never created by them in the first place.

Like it or not the country is headed in the right direction, California in the 50s and 60s was a repressive, culturally backward hellhole that fought against diversity. Now it is actually much more wealthy, more diverse, and vibrant. The problem is its success is so great it actually creates problems, so many people want to live in California and the jobs pay so well that it creates a glut of people and crazy house prices. There is plenty of money to go around and the fact is we need to create much higher taxes for more affordable housing.
I know you may not like it but if you want to live in California and enjoy its benefits than
you have to pay up. The days of greedy get all the money for myself are going away as society starts to enter are more enlightened period where it is about bettering ourselves and the world not just making money. California is just the start but it will happen, after that it is on to the stars as the human race not people from different countries.

Plutonium Shots on NIF.

Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. The stupidity arises from the fact that a huge population is placed at risk in the short and long term. Why do this kind of experiment in a heavily populated area? Only a moron would push that kind of imbecile area. Do it somewhere else in the god forsaken hills of Los Alamos. Why should the communities in the Bay Area be subjected to such increased risk just because the lab's NIF has failed twice and is trying the Hail Mary pass of doing an SNM experiment just to justify their existence? Those Laser EoS techniques and the people analyzing the raw data are all just BAD anyways. You know what comes next after they do the experiment. They'll figure out that they need larger samples. More risk for the local population. Stop this imbecilic pursuit. They wan...

Trump is to gut the labs.

The budget has a 20% decrease to DOE office of science, 20% cut to NIH. NASA also gets a cut. This will  have a huge negative effect on the lab. Crazy, juts crazy. He also wants to cut NEA and PBS, this may not seem like  a big deal but they get very little money and do great things.

LLNL un-diversity

Actual post from Dec. 15 from one of the streams. This is a real topic. As far as promoting women and minorities even if their qualifications are not as good as the white male scientists, I am all for it. We need diversity at the lab and if that is what it takes, so be it.  Quit your whining. Look around the lab, what do you see? White male geezers. How many African Americans do you see at the lab? Virtually none. LLNL is one of the MOST undiverse places you will see. Face it folks, LLNL is an institution of white male privilege and they don't want to give up their privileged positions. California, a state of majority Hispanics has the "crown jewel" LLNL nestled in the middle of it with very FEW Hispanics at all!
