I have worked at many different places, and the thing you have to understand about Sandia is that it is run like a wannabe, giant, for-profit corporation. It’s not really surprising since it has always been managed by one... the latest being the illustrious Honeywell. All of the corporations from Nike to Google are jumping on the CRT bandwagon to bolster their popular image, so Sandia is too. They forget that they are actually the red headed stepchild of the entire DOE complex, a historical artifact from when it made more sense to have AT&T run the lab, than to simply contract out the mundane engineering directly to Lockheed or Allied Signal.
