LLNS may have excluded the wrong people in last VSSOP? The exclusions were based on outdated job categories and related skills. ULM are now thinking that in the future, job categories and functional areas will have to be re-defined. The next VSSOP/ISP will be based on the new categories and functional areas. The questions I have are: 1) Why didnt they think of that before the transition. It seems like their style is “change things as you go”. Planning is out the window! 2) Who will give input on the new changes? The next RIF apparently is going to be more lucrative than the VSSOP. Depending on the length of employment, a RIFed person, not only gets their 1 week pay per year of service but also from 30 to 120 days notice, essentially 30 to 120 days pay. Please feel free to comment on the rumors or add new ones you actually heard.

The Dems are generally pro science and can just shift the labs to work on green energy.
Maybe Biden will attempt to cut the NNSA budget. The question is what is the time frame and if we can get enough support from the house and Senate. One problem is that some Republicans may want some cuts as well to say that they stopped some spending. The NNSA is a big target indeed. Not to mention that a case could be made that some cuts could be justified. The bigger worry is maybe they want some real crazy cuts.
It looks like the world is changing. Could it be better or worse, well that depends, but it is going to change fairly fast, particularly in terms of the internet. I bet this very blog is gone in 6 months but maybe less. In case it ends sooner than we think I just want to say thanks to Scooby for giving the NNSA folks particularly non-mangers a voice for issues and information.
