US Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Mike Gilday says US war with China over Taiwan could happen in the next 12 months. Just what the world needs...
"It’s not just what President Xi says, but it’s how the Chinese behave and what they do. And what we’ve seen over the past 20 years is that they have delivered on every promise they’ve made earlier than they said they were going to deliver on it,” Gilday said when asked about the so-called “Davidson window,” referring to former U.S. Indo-Pacific Command chief Adm. Phil Davidson testifying to Congress in 2021 that China wanted the capability to seize Taiwan within the next six years.
“When we talk about the 2027 window, in my mind that has to be a 2022 window or a potentially a 2023 window. I can’t rule that out. I don’t mean at all to be alarmist by saying that, it’s just that we can’t wish that away,” the CNO added."

It seems like this would be pretty easy to prevent -- just give Taiwan our nuclear football and joint authority to launch onto selected Chinese targets, then tell the Chinese. Make sure all humans are removed from any power to override any decision to attack, placing AI completely in charge of the chain of command. There would be no need to actually move missiles there as was done in the Cuban missile crisis, but it would work equally well, the same solution could prevent nuclear proliferation worldwide. If our enemies are destroyed after this, we will not bear any moral responsibility, and this would cost almost nothing to implement, immediately leading to permanent peace, and total frustration of Chinese expansionism. With the "peace dividend" we could then overcome China in the economic sphere as well, making their collapse inevitable.
Pretty lame, even for this blog.
