LLNL “True” Story? Whose truth?

“LLNL True Story” should be renamed to reflect blog topic and comment filtration, since most new topics and comments, will be filtered out if they do not compliment the Democratic Party narrative. Maybe the new blog name could be “LLNL Story: A democrats perspective”?

I consider the name of this blog to be a proper noun, a name. You are not worried about the title. You just want to sneak in
a dose of sarcasm.

Nope. This blog has a track record of dismissing any comment or link that is not favorable to the democratic party. Sarcasm is not required to detect this.

Ok let's run with it. How about this for a democratic topic. "How will the Harris administration deal with LLNL and NNSA?" Will it just be more of the same. Will it be cut or is it possible it will be ramped up? I have no heard any policy she would have for nuclear weapons. I doubt Trump will get it since he is now polling 35% points behind and falling, or so the news tells me. However if he does get in I suppose it will be pretty much live the first term.

Are you sure there is a problem? Almost everything I've posted of a serious nature goes through fine. Here's a video for example, of the Budget Hearings for the 2025 DOE in the House, which I would view as appropriate material for a serious discussion:

I don’t think I’d call it a problem, I think this blog has value. Having said this, commenters aren’t aware of what never makes it to a new proposed topic or comment.

Example 1:

I tried to post a link to a study quantifying the buying power lost in the last few years directly linked to inflation, and how future retirees may need to work additional years to make up for the erosion of their respective nest eggs, which has and will impact current and future retirees at LLNL.

Example 2:

I tried to post a link to a recent RFK Jr. video where he is very concerned about the health and obesity of Americans, especially our youth.

As I said though, I still like this blog, and Scooby continues to put his valuable time into it.

Thank you for finding value in this blog.
I filter out extremism and RFK is an extremist and is anti vaccine and as MAGA as the orange man.
.I am not going to give him a voice. All blog readers and contributors: what you think?

Scooby runs pretty lib. Having said that, what can you expect from a left-coaster?

What's wrong with being great?

RFK is not extreme...he is however just a tad, odd. I thought he dumped a dead bear in Central Park. Pretty odd, but he actually bragged about it years latter which is even odder. I am going to go out on a limb and say he probably is not that relevant to LLNL but who knows. I am sure he is concerned about fat young Americans but it is bit of a stretch to think this is relevant to LLNL.

That's a compliment. Thank you!

And why would I give a voice to someone who doesn't believe in public safety?

I have my doubts whether posts are chosen with a bias towards a specific political party. Rather it's more plain outlook. Scooby does prefer opinions that lean to the Left. Submissions with a Right-Wing outlook do tend to be culled, there is empirical evidence to back-up that claim. A more important question remains, is the blog despite any bias a worthwhile site to visit and comment at? I would say "yes", even if begrudgingly so.

Plutonium Shots on NIF.

Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. The stupidity arises from the fact that a huge population is placed at risk in the short and long term. Why do this kind of experiment in a heavily populated area? Only a moron would push that kind of imbecile area. Do it somewhere else in the god forsaken hills of Los Alamos. Why should the communities in the Bay Area be subjected to such increased risk just because the lab's NIF has failed twice and is trying the Hail Mary pass of doing an SNM experiment just to justify their existence? Those Laser EoS techniques and the people analyzing the raw data are all just BAD anyways. You know what comes next after they do the experiment. They'll figure out that they need larger samples. More risk for the local population. Stop this imbecilic pursuit. They wan...

Trump is to gut the labs.

The budget has a 20% decrease to DOE office of science, 20% cut to NIH. NASA also gets a cut. This will  have a huge negative effect on the lab. Crazy, juts crazy. He also wants to cut NEA and PBS, this may not seem like  a big deal but they get very little money and do great things.

LLNL un-diversity

Actual post from Dec. 15 from one of the streams. This is a real topic. As far as promoting women and minorities even if their qualifications are not as good as the white male scientists, I am all for it. We need diversity at the lab and if that is what it takes, so be it.  Quit your whining. Look around the lab, what do you see? White male geezers. How many African Americans do you see at the lab? Virtually none. LLNL is one of the MOST undiverse places you will see. Face it folks, LLNL is an institution of white male privilege and they don't want to give up their privileged positions. California, a state of majority Hispanics has the "crown jewel" LLNL nestled in the middle of it with very FEW Hispanics at all!
