Nuclear weapons testing has been ordered

Trump orders Pentagon to begin testing nuclear weapons 'immediately'

The U.S. voluntarily halted nuclear explosive testing in 1992, though it has the ability to resume tests at a site in Nevada.

GYEONGJU, South Korea — President Donald Trump said Wednesday he had instructed the Defense Department to “immediately” resume testing nuclear weapons.

“Because of other countries testing programs, I have instructed the Department of War to start testing our Nuclear Weapons on an equal basis,” Trump said on Truth Social shortly before his highly anticipated meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea. “That process will begin immediately.”

The United States has voluntarily halted nuclear explosive testing since 1992. However, it has the ability to resume tests at the Nevada National Security Site.

In other news subcrit has been put on hold, all technicians and engineers it’s time to convene at the Icecap tower in area 7. Wait how are we going to lower the device downhole without the proper crane.

I cannot figure out what on earth he is really saying. It is not clear that this is an actual test, a test of some deliverable system (Which we test already). I don't get it. He says because of other countries testing programs. I think these other countries are testing missiles not nukes. But hey what could go wrong with bit of in-precises wording. It would be kind of ironic if ww3 started because a badly worded tweet.

The United States has more Nuclear Weapons than any other country,' he began

Donald Trump ordered the Pentagon to begin their first nuclear tests since 1992 - just moments before the president's pivotal meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Trump told the Department of War to begin testing nukes 'immediately' and explained the military flex was necessary to combat Russia and China from closing the gap in the arms race.

'The United States has more Nuclear Weapons than any other country,' he began.

'This was accomplished, including a complete update and renovation of existing weapons, during my First Term in office. Because of the tremendous destructive power, I HATED to do it, but had no choice!' Because of other countries’ testing programs, I have instructed the Department of War to start testing our Nuclear Weapons on an equal basis. That process will begin immediately."

It will be a shit show.

The dude is so ignorant (in the south, they'd say dumber than a doorknob) he doesn't know the difference!

I asked a chatbot what will happen now, it said the following:

Following the president's order, the most likely scenario is an immediate lawsuit from environmental groups and the State of Nevada seeking a preliminary injunction in federal court. This legal challenge would not focus on the president's authority to order the test, but on the government's failure to first comply with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), which requires a new, multi-year Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) before any such action. Opponents would also cite the Endangered Species Act (ESA) to protect local wildlife like the desert tortoise. A judge is likely to grant this injunction, halting all preparations. The administration's main defense would be to claim a national security waiver to bypass these laws, but the legality of such a waiver would then become the central, and protracted, court battle.

The DOE has had issues with radioactive turtles before:

It’s strategy dummy. Remember SDI? Never feasible but used against the Russians as leverage.

This can only mean one thing.

We are already testing deliverable systems. The physics Labs LANL and LLNL in conjunction with SNL and the Navy or Air-force with their DOD subcontract partners routinely test delivery systems and related hardware. This is a year round multi test operation.

Well Thursdays are less than half empty at Los Alamos, Fridays are totally empty. So far no deviation .

Should be interesting if a actual test is ordered. The NV Governor is a Republican and the AG a Democrat who's running against him in 2026 I believe.

"Somewhere there is one Biden or Obama judge that will issue a national injunction." This statement can be applied equally to any action the Trump administration takes. The Supreme Court has effectively become the conduit through which all executive power is vested as a result.

All cranes are booked out through February 2027 and union rules won't allow NNSA to hire a private crane. Sorry, test is on hold for the foreseeable future.

Evidently the desert tortoise spends 95% of its time in underground shelters, making it uniquely adapted to life at the test site:

They are actually threatened by renewable energy too, such as wind and solar farms which displace them from their natural habitat!

45 said the same thing in about 2019, some unofficial talk within the groups that would actually perform this work on how this could be done. But the sheer reality is many of the people that actually performed this work are now part time retired contractors or no longer with us. Making a new crater in the mesa is the easy part, what we really need is data. We need both modern data and historical data recording equipment to calibrate our aging studies against. Good thing the past few years the containers of EG&G test ready recording equipment were sent to the scrap pile by the dumb and dumber crew. That’s some retainable skills you had right there.

If we only had a budget to support this endeavor.

At least he's not talking about nuking hurricanes.

Yes, the stable genius theory... and not the ignoramus blurting out nonsense?
Anonymous said…
We do. It will come out of the other, non-essential budgets. Heck, if we just eliminate the extra dead weight added to the labs since 1992, we can easily afford to test.

The nucking hurricane claim is said of every Republican president. I first heard Reagan said than Bush Jr and now Trump. I think it is just made up because you cannot find confirmation but maybe they all just come up with the same idea

11/01 11:52… No the labs that would perform this work are days from furlough and or shutdown

In the all hands today the first thing she covered was this topic. Apparently it means subcritical testing, flight tests and other mechanical or electrical system type testing.

Plutonium Shots on NIF.

Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. The stupidity arises from the fact that a huge population is placed at risk in the short and long term. Why do this kind of experiment in a heavily populated area? Only a moron would push that kind of imbecile area. Do it somewhere else in the god forsaken hills of Los Alamos. Why should the communities in the Bay Area be subjected to such increased risk just because the lab's NIF has failed twice and is trying the Hail Mary pass of doing an SNM experiment just to justify their existence? Those Laser EoS techniques and the people analyzing the raw data are all just BAD anyways. You know what comes next after they do the experiment. They'll figure out that they need larger samples. More risk for the local population. Stop this imbecilic pursuit. They wan...

Trump is to gut the labs.

The budget has a 20% decrease to DOE office of science, 20% cut to NIH. NASA also gets a cut. This will  have a huge negative effect on the lab. Crazy, juts crazy. He also wants to cut NEA and PBS, this may not seem like  a big deal but they get very little money and do great things.

LLNL un-diversity

Actual post from Dec. 15 from one of the streams. This is a real topic. As far as promoting women and minorities even if their qualifications are not as good as the white male scientists, I am all for it. We need diversity at the lab and if that is what it takes, so be it.  Quit your whining. Look around the lab, what do you see? White male geezers. How many African Americans do you see at the lab? Virtually none. LLNL is one of the MOST undiverse places you will see. Face it folks, LLNL is an institution of white male privilege and they don't want to give up their privileged positions. California, a state of majority Hispanics has the "crown jewel" LLNL nestled in the middle of it with very FEW Hispanics at all!
