If the poll is any reflection of the Lab population, then about half the people think LLNS/NNSA are doing a super job managing the lab!
% of people who would participate in a 1-day sickout as a way to express their dissatisfaction with LLNS: 52
% of those who would not: 42
Clearly, some folks have given up!

How many people (what percentage of the lab) actually read this blog?
Walking out on the job wouldn't maker LLNL a worse place, it may even make for some improvements. Hale to the old style Mafia unions. The last bouts were caused by the separation of the classes. I guess they didn't learn a thing and are betting that today's generation will not stand up for what is right fully theirs.
I doubt very many at all from what I can tell. What a shame and show of intelligence on their behalf. Those who don't read the blog or participate should have a tattoo of the guy with his head stuck up his butt put on their forehead for all to see. Hopefully someone will dig that picture up and post it on the blog someday. It should be handed out as a Non-Participation Award.
A lot of the non participation comes from the fact that LLNL people don't do their fare share of passing out the URL or encourage people to visit and speak up. This is of course what LLNS ULM wants, if you haven't figured that out yet.
How many of us have worked for decades and are now seeing all that effort apparently going for nought? Almost everyone. If you care about something, fight back. If not, just leave.
A work stoppage is the most humane form of message that can be sent. If people don't start banding together soon, someone is going to crack and harm either themselves or others. Given that possiblity, I'd rather risk the punishment of a work stoppage and the publicity it would generate vs. knowing someone got hurt due to me being selfish and afraid.
This BLOG is your BLOG and the vote is anonymous! I think you need a sick day either way: to protest against LLNS management or to practice not being afraid of your own shadow.
Sorry, scooby does not match any of the above!
I don't know if it'll make you feel any better, but you are not alone. A lot of us (me and I know others) are in the same boat. You're right. It feels like if this ship goes down (and it sure feels like it's heading that way), that's the end of everything. But that's not true. There are jobs out there. Yes, you may need to move, you may need to try something different, maybe it won't pay as much (then again, maybe it'll pay more!) but please don't think it's "the end."
What is stupid is thinking you NEED a job at LLNL. You might like it, might have a hard time finding a replacement, but need it?
I left, took a big hit in income and am glad I did. Because I'm free of all the BS finally. I don't need luxury items, the house is almost paid for. It's not that hard to live humble and free.
Thanks for dispelling the rumour that I am financially independent and that this BLOG is a feed to LLNS.
When I get tired of this place I'll vote with my feet..I'll just quit.
Everypage you bring up on your computer is recorded didn't you know that.
For us who rent a house is the biggest luxury item there is. Freedoms just another word for nothing left to lose except your life.
Yes it is. So is a something I heard a friend quote - The most free person in the world is a condemned man.
Which makes the statements by 9:24 all the more profound - they really stung me. Why are we so afraid of LLNL when we are doomed anyway?
