Bechtel Faces Two Lawsuits

Bechtel Faces Two Lawsuits from Former Employees at Hanford

"Two former workers at the Hanford Site Waste Treatment Plant are accusing contractor Bechtel National in separate lawsuits of laying them off after they raised safety concerns...In millwright Ford’s case, the Department of Labor ruled in 2015 that his role as a whistleblower during his 35-year career at Hanford contributed to Bechtel’s decision to lay him off in November 2011. He was scrutinized and treated more harshly than other employees, the agency found."

There are two answers to this.

(1) Los Alamos is a winner but the DOE awards are total junk so it means nothing because we know how bad Los Alamos is.

(2) If Los Alamos did not win anything than it shows how horrible Los Alamos is that it did not win anything.

Ok I think we are all in agreement.

Please, I implore you, learn the diffence between “then” and “than” before representing yourself as a logical person. Please.

"There are two answers to this."

There is a 3rd answer. The decade plus experiment with the expensive for-profit focused contractors LANS and LLNS (LANSLLNS), has been an across the board colossal failure with respect to DOE mission objectives. Are you listening NNSA?

A completely logical argument can have misspellings and even grammatical errors.

Just 2 years ago Bechtel and AECOM (URS was acquired by AECOM) "agreed to pay $125 million to resolve allegations that they charged the Department of Energy for materials and work that did not meet the exacting standards required for nuclear facilities...The settlement agreement also resolves allegations that Bechtel illegally used taxpayer dollars to lobby Congress for money for Bechtel’s work at the Hanford nuclear reservation north of Richland."

Unlikely to be a compelling argument if no one can stand to read it. Plus, the implied lack of fundamental education on the part of the poster casts his/her argument in doubt from the start.

Again this does not invalidate an argument. In fact to dismiss argument using this approach invokes two logical fallacies.

So what? It is still dismissed. Is that what the poster wants? No one cares about your "logical fallacies." Your fallacy is in thinking they are important. Get over yourself.

"Your fallacy is in thinking they are important. Get over yourself."

Impressive, you invoke two fallacies just 11 words.

Ad Hominem Fallacy

Irrelevant conclusion.

I would add that you are also clearly wrong when you claim "no one cares about your" since you have demonstrated that at least one person cares.

Since Scooby deleted my last response (for no discernible reason, as usual), I'm done. Your narcissism and arrogance stands. (Yay Scooby!)

Appeal to authority, but than again you are in fact the authority.

Julian, you delete SOME comments that violate blog rules but you don't delete others. Sometimes you let offensive text through, like the insult at the end of 5:33 PM's post.

You failed an experiment I tried a while ago. I copied an offensive sentence from a blog post that you let through with one change, I made you the subject. You censured the post.

You claim that you only delete comments that violate blog rules just isn't true. You also delete comments that you don't like. Get over yourself.

It is his blog and he calls the shots.

What was wrong with the 5:33PM post? There is a difference between an insult and a suggestion. I think you are bit sensitive. Get over yourself ;)

So you think that everyone shares your definition of "offensive"? I'm offended by that opinion!

So what? It is still offensive. Is that what the poster wants? No one cares about you think is offensive. Your offense is in thinking what offends you is important. Get over yourself.

...and we have yet another thread about Julian. See the pattern? Anyone? Anyone?
Anonymous said…
So I guess any post that anyone thinks is offensive, for any reason, specified or not, should be deleted? PC gone wild. Yikes. What if I say that I'm sure I will be offended by every post on this blog? Will that shut the blog down?

I follow four or five blogs. I see little difference among them and this blog in how they are managed. Each has someone that "owns" the blog and tries to keep the blog on topic and civil. If someone disagrees with the management of a blog, do not participate. Go start your own blog.

There is a baseline list of offensive words I follow. I don't go by post ,rather by terms and phrases used.
If everything offends you ,you must be a very miserable person. I am sincerely hoping you are joking .

Yes, I see a patten, you attack someone who disagrees with you points of view, the person replies to your attack with logic, you then reply in return by insulting the person with words that violate the blog rules which gets removed. You then blame Julian for not allowing your post. So yes the threads leads to Julian, so indeed there is a pattern and it is one everyone sees but you. Think about the for bit.

I could not have connected the dots better! Thank you .

See if you can figure this out. A post that I thought offensive was allowed by Julian. When I reposted the exact same post with the only chage being that Julian was now the subject, Julian censured the post. So Julian now thought the post violated the rules when before he thought it ok. He was for it before he was against it. Despite his protestations to the contrary, Julian simply is not following the rules in a consistent way.

Not the case, 6:56 pm. What you don't know, and apparently didn't think to consider, is there is more than one person accusing Julian of inconsistent censureship in this thread.

Even if this is true it is not a pattern not to mention that I am pretty sure that it did happen as you say since you kinda have a history of
not exactly being very accurate. But hey you can see the world the way you want.

"Not the case, 6:56 pm. What you don't know, and apparently didn't think to consider, is there is more than one person accusing Julian of inconsistent censureship in this thread."

I will invoke the Anna Krarenina argument, all happy posters are different but all unhappy posters are the same. In other words the pattern is the same, you guys post something that violates the rules, it does not get posted and you are unhappy. Everyone else posts something things that never get removed.

"Two former workers at the Hanford Site Waste Treatment Plant are accusing contractor Bechtel National in separate lawsuits of laying them off after they raised safety concerns..."

So a few supposedly bickering commenters have effectively drawn attention away from the original post topic. Hmm.

I guess the concepts of sarcasm and exaggeration to make a point are not in Julian's repertoire.

Good God....This thread is a testament as to how much this once good blog has rendered itself into the garbage dumpster of stupidity...

People...... politicians have destroyed the golden goose.... LLNL and LANL...

Its over, get used to the mediocrity of Bechtel and its politically entrenched deep state status...No one gives a crap anymore....The labs have been sold out by Bay Area politicians.

The once greatest think tanks that brought the first generation of innovation and grew out of WWII are dead and gone. NNSA is a joke.

Plutonium Shots on NIF.

Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. The stupidity arises from the fact that a huge population is placed at risk in the short and long term. Why do this kind of experiment in a heavily populated area? Only a moron would push that kind of imbecile area. Do it somewhere else in the god forsaken hills of Los Alamos. Why should the communities in the Bay Area be subjected to such increased risk just because the lab's NIF has failed twice and is trying the Hail Mary pass of doing an SNM experiment just to justify their existence? Those Laser EoS techniques and the people analyzing the raw data are all just BAD anyways. You know what comes next after they do the experiment. They'll figure out that they need larger samples. More risk for the local population. Stop this imbecilic pursuit. They wan...

Trump is to gut the labs.

The budget has a 20% decrease to DOE office of science, 20% cut to NIH. NASA also gets a cut. This will  have a huge negative effect on the lab. Crazy, juts crazy. He also wants to cut NEA and PBS, this may not seem like  a big deal but they get very little money and do great things.

LLNL un-diversity

Actual post from Dec. 15 from one of the streams. This is a real topic. As far as promoting women and minorities even if their qualifications are not as good as the white male scientists, I am all for it. We need diversity at the lab and if that is what it takes, so be it.  Quit your whining. Look around the lab, what do you see? White male geezers. How many African Americans do you see at the lab? Virtually none. LLNL is one of the MOST undiverse places you will see. Face it folks, LLNL is an institution of white male privilege and they don't want to give up their privileged positions. California, a state of majority Hispanics has the "crown jewel" LLNL nestled in the middle of it with very FEW Hispanics at all!
