Compensation stagnation

At LLNL, I am curious who to speak to when dealing with staffing & payroll inadequacy issues. I've had a good performance track record, my 30 years, but have been stagnant in pay structure the past 20. There has to be some recourse, as I watch others float on by.

Your recourse is the private sector. I understand there are some tech companies in the Bay area.

Your recourse is the classical one: get a better job elsewhere. Then let LLNL try to beat your offer.

Don't kid yourself you don't have a good performance track record

What does stagnant mean? You should be happy if it's 1 to 3%. Keep in mind LANS zeroed hundreds of workers salaries to pay the for the exorbitant senior management salaries. LANS produced many millionaires during their reign.

For certain the system takes advantage of the average worker. Your recourse is legal or quitting. If you think you’ll be fairly compensated for your contribution, I’ve got some swamp land to sell you. LANS took advantage of everyone in the US except select members of the management team. The fact that most remain on board speaks volumes about the integrity of Triad, or lack thereof.

Actually, my decades long work at LANL was fairly compensated, at increasing levels during my career. Finished in six figures. No complaints. Lots of high performance/value ratings too. Try harder.

Many finish at seven figures.

McMillian was pulling in 1.5 Mill a year...Bechtel Baby!!!!

http://www.santafenewmexican.com/news/local_news/los-alamos-lab-director-retiring-at-year-s-end/article_4bf624b0-9268-11e7-a8da-67b0b8c2a1e2.html

In 2009 this was the salary without bonuses for certain individuals. If McMillian under LANS was making 1.5 total in 2017 than the following must making over one million. So basically it is the PADS at 1-1.5 Mill and the ADs at 600k-1.1 Million.
The loss of the bonuses will bite into this in a big way since was at least 50% of you base salary.

Mike Mallory - 476,000
Mike Anastasio - 437,000
Terry Wallace - 332,000
William Rees - 330,000
Roland Knapp - 326,000
Charles MacMillan - 320,000
Thomas McKinney - 315,000
Bret Knapp - 298,000
Richard Marquez - 295,000
Isaac Richardson - 277,000

This supports the claim that "many over 7 figures" is a lie. Actually none over $500k. Pretty small potatoes, major corporation management-wise.

This was in 2009 and did not include the bonuses, the bonuses can be as much as the salaries, nor did it include other compensation so yes by 2017 there where at least 10-15 people making wellover seven figures, even the Santa Fe newspapers had a story on this.

No supporting data or even a citation = no credibility to your claim. Put up or shut up.

Plutonium Shots on NIF.

Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. The stupidity arises from the fact that a huge population is placed at risk in the short and long term. Why do this kind of experiment in a heavily populated area? Only a moron would push that kind of imbecile area. Do it somewhere else in the god forsaken hills of Los Alamos. Why should the communities in the Bay Area be subjected to such increased risk just because the lab's NIF has failed twice and is trying the Hail Mary pass of doing an SNM experiment just to justify their existence? Those Laser EoS techniques and the people analyzing the raw data are all just BAD anyways. You know what comes next after they do the experiment. They'll figure out that they need larger samples. More risk for the local population. Stop this imbecilic pursuit. They wan...

Trump is to gut the labs.

The budget has a 20% decrease to DOE office of science, 20% cut to NIH. NASA also gets a cut. This will  have a huge negative effect on the lab. Crazy, juts crazy. He also wants to cut NEA and PBS, this may not seem like  a big deal but they get very little money and do great things.

Rumor corner

LLNS may have excluded the wrong people in last VSSOP? The exclusions were based on outdated job categories and related skills. ULM are now thinking that in the future, job categories and functional areas will have to be re-defined. The next VSSOP/ISP will be based on the new categories and functional areas. The questions I have are: 1) Why didnt they think of that before the transition. It seems like their style is “change things as you go”. Planning is out the window! 2) Who will give input on the new changes? The next RIF apparently is going to be more lucrative than the VSSOP. Depending on the length of employment, a RIFed person, not only gets their 1 week pay per year of service but also from 30 to 120 days notice, essentially 30 to 120 days pay. Please feel free to comment on the rumors or add new ones you actually heard.
