Thank you Scooby for terminating the "racism" threads and putting your blog back on an even keel.

This has no relevance for the labs.

We have displaced Native Americans from their lands, enslaved African Americans, took ancestral lands across the Southwest from Mexican Americans in violation of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, placed Japanese Americans in internment camps, and the list goes on. With respect, I'm sure those mentioned would have preferred "an even keel" too. How the Labs are above all of the racism problem is questionable.

OK, Scooby, Mr. Racism is back. Want to do something about this again? It has nothing to do with LLNL, just the poster's beliefs. It is redundant, irrelevant, tiresome and boring.

We? Is there any "we" left? I am pretty sure that there is no one the labs have actually done any of these things you have listed.

"We have displaced Native Americans from their lands,"

I thought the Spanish did that. By the way you do know that every Native American land was taken from some other older
Native American group. Ever heard of the Clovis people or Dorset people, no that's because they got wiped out.

Sounds like someone is in denial and it reminds me of this old quote, "Some people are born on third base and go through life thinking they hit a triple", which still has meaning today. When the facts are examined, it's still a hard pill to swallow, but that's how incremental progress is made.

Some people also blame all their problems on other people. This is a sure method to fail in life. Hating someone who was born with privelege and uses that privilege to do well just sounds like bitterness to me. I have never understood the whole "check your privilege" thing, it just reeks of being pathetic and the motto of a loser. If you have privilege it is your obligation to use to do well. If you are not born with privlege it is your obligation to do every in your power to succeed. Trying to tear down those who doing well is horrible way to go through life and only hurts you and others. If you have a problem with others people success then you are the one in denial and need to examine the facts.

“During an interview that aired Monday night, Obama told CNN's Anderson Cooper the country has not "fully reconciled with our history" and that it's a "hard thing to hear," especially for White Americans. “You can be proud of this country and its traditions and its history and our forefathers … and it's also true that this terrible stuff happened and the vestiges of that linger and continue," Obama said.”

Your reasoning is equivalent to saying “if your house is robbed, it is your obligation to repurchase what was stolen, on your own, and move on.” Somewhat convenient wouldn’t you say? This is in part, what CRT is trying to expose.

Well that was informative. Did you mean you have a clue, or don't have a clue? I suspect you meant the latter, which puts you squarely in the "clueless" category. Disappointing from someone who pretends to have a rigid code for blog posts. What happened to "no political debate"? You don't think general accusations of racism are "political debate"?
Well, if you want constant outrage and trolling and toxic posts here, go for it. Pitiful blog moderation. This used to be a respectable lab-related blog.

Everybody knows there are vestiges of this in our nation for example could ever imagine the United States having a Black president?

Thanks for visiting the blog that "used to be respectable". I never expected this blog to be "respectable", just accessible and with the freedom of anonymity !

In fact one of the best things you could do is move on with your life if you house is robbed. Maybe the person who caught your house will be caught maybe not but that should not mean that you spend the rest of your life saying you cannot succeed because you house was robbed. It also does not mane that multiple generations after your house was robbed also get to blame any issues they have because a a house was robed 170 years ago. In any case this is not "equivalent". Do you you even know what that means in terms of two arguemnts?

And no this is not what CRT is trying to expose. CRT is has no methods to expose anything since it is not a theory in any scientific way not using any kind of critical reasoning. No one even knows how to define what the hell it even means. CRT also has no solutions whatsoever to improve anyones life. It is only a set of assertions with no evidence.

Brett Weinstein comments on CRT are relevant in this case.

Term 'theory' in "critical theory" falsely suggests methodological rigor when, in fact, there is no method at all, much less a rigorous one. CT is instead a set of assertions, amongst which is the idea that 'methods' and 'rigor' are tools oppression. It is motivated sophistry.

I am not exactly sure what you are talking about. CRT and diversity training may become very relevant to the labs. If you are aware of what is going on in academics then you know this stuff is happening in scientific fields, so I do not see how the NNSA labs can avoid this. This blog seems like a good place to talk about it. There could be very well meaning people who think CRT is something good and should be taught, after all most people do not like the idea of racism and think it utterly unfair to judge any individual on their race. As such many people might think that is the goal of CRT, but are unaware that this not the real goal of CRT or that it changes definitions and usages of languages and it is itself in fact is deeply racists since it judges individuals solely on race and nothing more than race. Another odd thing is how much it goes against actual liberal ideology, although one would have to first know what actual liberal ideology is.

False the only issue that matter to the the labs, to United States and democracy itself is equity. CRT is the the key to achieve this and the only method. You are on board the canoe or you are out. Last year we witnessed the beginning of the revolution there is no stoping it now, the labs need to get on board use their resources to fight for equity.

Among other improvements, lab equity requires transparency in career opportunities, ranking, bonuses, raises, and salaries.

CRT is ridiculous on its face. Must we endure this pop culture wrapped in science through the word “Theory”. Ive seen better research and discussion on toilet paper.

Criticizing CRT is actually proof that it is correct. It is a theory like any other scientific theory. One of it predictions is that some people will say it is not a theory.

Obviously you are not a scientist. That is not the scientific definition of "theory," that is the layman's incorrect definition of "theory."

"No political debate" - Scooby.

10:38 you realize, of course, that what you are stating is a classic fallacy. CRT may have its supporters. Heck there may even be some objective evidence for some of its vague theoretical notions. The support from the pseudo-scientific community and running, fallacious, doublespeak narrative is hardly compelling and should be openly and directly rejected for the garbage that it is. This world has real problems without another woke flavor of the week.

So would it be considered political debate to discuss if CRT is needed at the labs, if it would make things better or worse, or if it does come to the lab should we push back against it
