Has Scooby lost his mind?

This blog is very close to becoming useless and irrelevant to me, a 30 year employee and now retiree of the labs. I used to like seeing what was new and what was controversial at the labs, and who was in or out. Now it is just filled with political garbage and woke nonsense. Scooby has lost his mind and his previously pretty solid direction. So it goes. I'll check back in a few months to see if sanity has reestablished itself here, on a purportedly scientifically-focused blog. Carry on, as you will.

You seem to equate "the garbage" aspect of the blog to me.
Blog contributors drive the value of the blog. It is not about me.
Since the blog inception in 07,I have not changed a thing, except for refraining from yelling irate readers "don't let the door hit you..... "
Your perceptions and expectations have changed.

Seems like the blog has had been plenty of stuff relevant to the labs in the past few months. There Koonin, speech, possible Wuhan lab leak, fusion energy, green energy and so on. The blog seems fairly consistent to me. Sure there are times when there is activity like during a contract change but on the whole the blog pretty much the same. If you have interesting information on the labs lets hear it. Even when someone brings up a point on the lab there is plenty of people who just get upset that such topics are being brought up.

Here is one for you. Have the recent hires in the past few years been (1) Higher quality. (2) The same quality. (3) Lower quality. I am sure that this will get someone to say this is irrelevant. I could go further and ask if (3) lower quality than one could ask (1) It is important, (2) it is unimportant, (3) who cares. I have my opinions on this and I can provide evidence if the conversation gets going.

If I had to pour over all the drivel that is sent into this blog, I'd probably lose my mind.

I still find this blog relevant.

I have hated this blog for years and stoped reading after TRIAD won. I never look at it any more.

Triad has been managing LANL since Nov. 1, 2018. Triad "won" the contract on June 8, 2018 over 3 years ago. I do not understand your comment. Anyway, I think this blog still has value, but I understand some do not like forums where opinions are shared that are not sanctioned by the subject matter.

And yet, here you are! Did the blog somehow jump from the ether and burrow itself into your frontal lobe so you knew the precise moment to make a reappearance? Is this an after effect of a Covid vaccine?

My personal method for discerning things I don't read is the Magic 8 ball.

Plutonium Shots on NIF.

Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. The stupidity arises from the fact that a huge population is placed at risk in the short and long term. Why do this kind of experiment in a heavily populated area? Only a moron would push that kind of imbecile area. Do it somewhere else in the god forsaken hills of Los Alamos. Why should the communities in the Bay Area be subjected to such increased risk just because the lab's NIF has failed twice and is trying the Hail Mary pass of doing an SNM experiment just to justify their existence? Those Laser EoS techniques and the people analyzing the raw data are all just BAD anyways. You know what comes next after they do the experiment. They'll figure out that they need larger samples. More risk for the local population. Stop this imbecilic pursuit. They wan...

Trump is to gut the labs.

The budget has a 20% decrease to DOE office of science, 20% cut to NIH. NASA also gets a cut. This will  have a huge negative effect on the lab. Crazy, juts crazy. He also wants to cut NEA and PBS, this may not seem like  a big deal but they get very little money and do great things.

LLNL un-diversity

Actual post from Dec. 15 from one of the streams. This is a real topic. As far as promoting women and minorities even if their qualifications are not as good as the white male scientists, I am all for it. We need diversity at the lab and if that is what it takes, so be it.  Quit your whining. Look around the lab, what do you see? White male geezers. How many African Americans do you see at the lab? Virtually none. LLNL is one of the MOST undiverse places you will see. Face it folks, LLNL is an institution of white male privilege and they don't want to give up their privileged positions. California, a state of majority Hispanics has the "crown jewel" LLNL nestled in the middle of it with very FEW Hispanics at all!
