More on Wuhan

 https://www.zerohedge.com/covid-19/covid-origins-report-lawrence-livermore-z-division-concluded-may-2020-lab-leak-plausible

While Anthony Fauci spent much of last year telling the public that COVID-19 couldn't have possibly come from a Wuhan lab his agency was funding, the Lawrence Livermore Lab's intelligence arm, known as the "Z-Division," found the Wuhan lab-leak theory to be quite plausible and deserving of further investigation, according to the Wall Street Journal.

What can we do about it? Create a commission? Suppose we do and the results show Wuhan released the virus. What are going to do about it?

I say just let it go. We have other things to worry about in the US. We just had the greatest threat to the US since the Civil war. In many ways Jan 6th was far worse than the Civil War. The South never got into the Capital. This has to be our central focus, Covid came and now it is gone , but we are left with the threat of insurrection from now on.

Accidental releases happen, in many countries that do sensitive biological research, including the US. Chastise inadequate safety protocols or enforcement of same. Establish a world-wide set of criteria for such labs. Blame accomplishes nothing positive. Transparency and knowledge prevent recurrence.

Suppose you own a roofing business and are very successful. You have a one-ton pickup with a lot of roofing nails in the pickup bed but you leave the tailgate down when driving around. Some of the cartons of nails have holes and allow many roofing nails to spill onto the highways and roads you drive. Some vehicles on the road get flat tires immediately and some just have slow leaks. In 15% of the flat tire cases there is a crash that causes property damage. In 1% of the crashes someone dies. When pressed about the nail incident, you bury the remaining nails and leave the pickup in the garage. When more evidence comes out that you are the probably culprit for the deaths and property damage you blame the states that own the roads and highways. But since it was an accident (you did not deliberately scatter the roadways with nails) many of your supporters say "it is an accident, get over it."

You could have made your point more clearly in about two sentences.

Congress needs to pass a law to allow Americans killed or injured by the virus to sue China and seize Chinese owned assets in the US.

You could have made you point by addressing what the person said. In any case you comment is so short that adds nothing to the conversation. It is sort of like writing "You have used words in you comment, you could have used a another form communication, I like turtles!"

A couple of problems with this. After four years of Trump and the armed insurrection a better analogy would be this. Imagine a truck moving through a burning city with zombies killing everybody, lions and tigers running everywhere, and Godzilla destroying all the buildings. So a few nails fall out of the car and and a few people die. Sure it is bad but in the present conditions it is simply not something to relevant to worry about considering everything else that it going. In fact diverting resources from fighting the zombies, lions, tigers and Godzilla that are killing thousands to address a truck with nails falling out from killing a couple of people will actually lead to more mayhem. Right now in our country we are literally being attacked by all these things from the last four years. Losing a focus on what has been done to address the origin of Covid-19 could be disastrous for us. Right now the republicans are attempting to destroy democracy by preventing half the country from voting, there will be no country to save if we do not fix our own problems. Again Covid is a distraction from what is really going on.

Literally?? No we're not. What is your evidence of an "attack"? I don't feel "attacked." How are you being "attacked"? Is your life, your livelihood, your health in danger? I didn't think so. Are you in any danger at all? Is there a bunch of people out there saying things that you don't like and that scare you? So what? Grow up. Stop reading social media and rejoin the real world. You'll like it. Summer is here, go out and have fun like everyone else. Eat ice cream.

So four years of Trump and as usual, life goes on. The world did not burn. Can we get back on topic. It is now public knowledge that the “scientific community” believed in 2020 that it was plausible Covid-19 was lab developed and likely accidentally released. Shall we “believe the science”. I mean it should have been a clue when Trump knew there was a lab in Wuhan. You think he researched that himself. So this is a pretty major “accident”. What if a country accidentally launched an ICBM and killed 500k people. Dont care? Move on?

If so, I guess we move on from slavery, and every other major atrocity in the past. Yes? But probably not right. Some excuse will be offered on how this is “not the same”.

"So four years of Trump and as usual, life goes on. The world did not burn"

The world did burn, remember Minneapolis, the riots all last year, the hundred the died the billions of dollars of damage? That was all due to Trump. Remember the insurrection of Jan 6th, this is worse the the Civil war. What about the fact the nothing was done go stop Covid id and it kills 600k preventable deaths. What about the all the people that where prevented from voting, what about the all the racial attacks and the rise of white supremacy. The fact that Trump is still around has cast a shadow over the free world. It would like winning ww2 and that still having Hitler and Mousellini around. The world burned my fried, the world burned. The possible Covid lab leak is not the real issue, the issue is that Trump allowed his followers to spread it and did nothing to stop it. Look at the numbers in Europe, New Zealand and Aus, and so on 100 times lower. If it was a lab leak it could have been managed under a proper systems and sane leadership.

Covid and slavery are not the same. Covid could have been an accident and we can move on. Slavery was made deliberately to prop up a corrupt capitalistic system to exploit the world and set up a system to benefit one group. Have you ever heard of systemic racism? It is one the system itself, prisons, police, healthcare, infrastructure, schools, books, housing, military, police, and so on it is baked into everything and has been with us since 1619. Do the work and educate yourself. It is not my job to teach your why you have privilege.

The NNSA labs are deeply connected to the politics, for better or worse. It pertains the the budgets, the future, and the mission. LLNL and
LANL have been working on Covid for some time.

Now debating about politics probably will not change anything at the labs but it is certainly relevant to the labs.
