Here is a good conspiracy theory.
The Large Hadron Collider LHC at CERN is about to start up again after another upgrade. The last startup after an upgrade was in 2016. Some claim that has been creating holes in multiverse and we keep jumping to more and more absurd worlds here Trump got elected in 2016. One can also guess how crazy it is going to get once they turn it on again at even higher energies. Another scenario is we we are in a simulation and the LHC is creating events that are destabilizing the simulation. Who knows what comes next. Of course some would counter the recent crazy stuff just in 2021 before has occurred before it turned on. But what if part of the destabilization is due tachyon production so some of the real insanity we will see in the future is now leaking into the past to our current time.

To bring it back to some semblance of reality times are indeed weird but times have been weird in the past as well when systems change or collapse. I am sure times where strange in late 30s in Europe, in 1860 in the United States, in Russia in late 80s and so on.
I think what is going on is that there is no simply more ways to communicate and there are now efforts to control the narrative on a grand scale with it being by ways of suppressing speech or countering crazy speech with even more crazier speech. We also see a breakdown in trust of institutions. For example large numbers of people no longer trust the media, experts, or academics, and things are now about being tribal rather than being honest. If you can no longer trusts your institutions than yes the world can become a pretty strange place. The other possibility is it is not the LHC but NIF so we can blame it all on LLNL.
Yep getting crazier and crazier. We could default in a couple of weeks, we alienated Israel, we have 20 thousand Haitians in Texas. We screwed up Afghanistan. 100 people getting shot every week in Chicago and China keeps upiing the hostile talk.
With all that what do I see in all the front page news headlines? Something about a missing girl in van? ...what? I am going for the the LHC ended the simulation in 2012 and not it is running unchecked with no purpose.
Did some real interesting thing happen in 2012 that the people running the sim figured ok we got the data we needed, or did they just look this realization and figured it is not working, lets try another one. Maybe the purposeful simulation just happened to run to 2012, and after that it now has no purpose.
