Actual post from Dec. 15 from one of the streams. This is a real topic. As far as promoting women and minorities even if their qualifications are not as good as the white male scientists, I am all for it. We need diversity at the lab and if that is what it takes, so be it. Quit your whining. Look around the lab, what do you see? White male geezers. How many African Americans do you see at the lab? Virtually none. LLNL is one of the MOST undiverse places you will see. Face it folks, LLNL is an institution of white male privilege and they don't want to give up their privileged positions. California, a state of majority Hispanics has the "crown jewel" LLNL nestled in the middle of it with very FEW Hispanics at all!

To the best of my knowledge, No other NNSA Lab is mandating vaccinations and rejecting all religious exemption requests,
Today I attended Mason and Sarrao’s POstdoc All Hands meeting (in honor of, ahem, The first day of National Postdoc Appreciation Week). Someone dared to ask a question about medical/religious exemptions, and Mason responded, “nobody is forcing you to have a job here.” Suffice it to say, no more questions were asked.
Post it if that is the case. It does not say that.
"“nobody is forcing you to have a job here.” Suffice it to say, no more questions were asked. "
Sounds harsh, but as I said they are not going to fire anybody especially because of the demographics of who is not getting the vaccine.
As for nobody is forcing your to have a job here, considering that there is a workers crisis where we cannot find enough workers do you really think firing people is a good idea? In fact if you look nation wide at the vaccination not all that many people are being fired. We will also not mention that working people are already much more likely to get the vaccination anyway. If you want to get more people vaccinated forcing LANL people is going to little impact, you have to go to communities and regions where vaccination is low. The NNSA labs are not one of them.

Totally wrong about that, regarding LANL employees who do not live in Los Alamos.
Why does this guy keep saying Mason won't fire those who refuse to get vaccinated, especially due to their demographics as crusty old conservative white men? For once, the lab actually has somebody who can make a decision and walk the talk. Shocking to you all, as it is to me.

Oh....ok. Even without privy knowledge it is beyond trivial to figure out.
Just out of curiosity why do you make such a claim? I would really like to know
Ok let us do the most simple thing but there are many others.
Are you seriously trying to claim that NNSA labs have low vaccination rates? You know the data is all in the public and can found in lets see, ...typing on google...Covid all cases, look New Mexico, at even gives the county we live in...him, let click a few other conties..hmm well I see a pattern.
I am no big fan of NYT but whatever they have some data if you want to work at it. Lets just look an the counties where the vast majority of LANL employees come from.
https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/us/los-alamos-new-mexico-covid-cases.html
Let see, add the 4 , carry the two, divide by one...wait, no divide by two...ok
Los Almaos County 76 %
Rio Arribo county 61%
Bernalilo ,, 57.7%
Sandaval 60.7%
Santa Fe, 66.5%
San Miguel, 54.06%
Torance County, 34.8%
Coelfax, 52.39%
Mora, 53%
Toas, 67%
Hmm notice a trend? I can do the next step but come on man.
The point is trying to get NNSA lab members vaccinated with the big chunks majority coming from LA and SF county. I think you need
to concentrtae on the other counties.
A better point is that to get the small number of people from Rio Arruba who work at LANL and have not gotten vaccinated to get vaccinated will have a low impact to the total number of vaccinations when what you should be doing is going directly to Rio Arruba and trying to get people vaccinated.
One the problems with this approach of going directly to these communities is that goes against the media narrative that all anti-vaxers are conservative whites, which is statistically not true. If you look at NYC the most unvaccinated population are blacks between 17-40 at like 27%. Similar trends fall everywhere. I attest that people just go along with media narrative I have had family members just go about how the Trumpers make up all the unvaccinated people. I can even ask how do they know this and they say it is all over the news, if I tell then you can look online at the actual numbers and they just say I must be listening to Fox News or right wing media. I can even show them the online data and they simply think it is a Q-annon site or something.
Zacharia has announced a "One ORNL" goal that 100% of COVID-19 cases are preventable.
What doesn't get mentioned, but is widely known, is that last month almost half of ORNL's COVID-19 cases were among fully vaccinated staff.
ORNL hasn't announced what steps they will take to completely prevent any COVID-19 cases at the lab and achieve their goal. The remaining unvaccinated staff will be gone by Oct 15th, so all new cases after that date will be breakthrough cases.
ORNL has issued lanyard badges to staff who have presented proof of vaccination. The oversize green badge (with a white check mark and the word "vaccinated") is worn behind the DOE badge. To incentivize staff, the lab doesn't require social distancing between staff that voluntarily wear the vaccination badge. Which means conference rooms are now at full occupancy again - just with staff displaying the check mark! Of course everyone is wearing a cloth face covering indoors. It does make one wonder if the lab is inadvertently driving the cases among the vaccinated by waiving social distancing. A plastic badge with a check mark isn't really a substitute for legitimate PPE.
That makes no sense, that is not possible. You could say 100% of people vaccinated which is a achievable goal but 100% of preventable cases is not a possible. Statements like this do not put management in the best light in terms of understanding science.

I would home science has least some part of it.
And I would home you start paying attention to those squiggly red lines prompting you to correct your spelling!
No "squiggly red lines," "home" is a perfectly good word. Stop being so prissy.

Why would home have a squiggly red line? I could understand homme or hume but home, no I do not see a squiggly red line.
Oh, I get you pain, berry funning, ;)
