Blasting 'woke' math movement
Hundreds of college professors - including Ivy League - sign open letter blasting 'woke' math movement to eliminate 'discriminative' advanced classes and say it will put American kids at HUGE disadvantage.
At least the labs can always people from overseas who can do math.

The Chinese do well in math. They have won the last three math olympics, the US won the the two before that but the team was not exactly diverse in terms of Chinese-Americans if you know what I mean. Just admit it, China is going to be the global leader sooner rather than later. Why spend all that money on NNSA labs, when it is is already over? That money could be used for housing in California or helping marginalized people.
New guides to teacher hiring. We should do the same for new lab hires.

Using racism to “defeat” racism is racist.
To answer 11:07, ignore BLM; reject affirmative action practices; gender diversity exists regardless of actual, perceived, or declared value; I tend to use English both spoken and written; outcome is predicted by performance; simple, the “affluent” parents exist in male-female mated pairs who care about their offspring enough to ensure their education is a quality one.

I would have different answers. But the point is that if you do not answer correctly you will not be hired. At UCB for faculty applications you have also have answer a set of questions like this.
I would reply with the below.
"What have you done personally or professionally to be more anti-racist? "
I do not take race, religion, ethnicity or gender into account. I also do not give extra preference to any any group. What I have done personally is not something that should be put out publicly for prestige points.
"How do you ensure that the values of diversity and cultural awareness are reflected in your practice? "
I do not know what the values of diversity or cultural awareness even mean for most classes. For example in a math class what could this even mean? On the whole this statement seems ill-defined.
"How do you incorporate gender diversity and the different racial and cultural backgrounds of your students and families into your daily instruction and classroom environment? "
I do not and and will not not. It is disservice to treat people different or present material differently to anyone.

I do not care about their backgrounds and you should not either. It is none your business.

Since I do not see race, ethnicity, gender or anything, I cannot comment or take any action as I treat everyone the same. Suppose that I did see these things, how on earth could you even take this into account in a classroom? How does one change calculus to get give outcomes that are equal for everyone. Again this simply makes no sense.

Several reasons, (1) Affluent parents may care more about their kids and that is why they waited to have kids. (2) More affluent parents on average are smarter and more hard working, which is one the reasons they are more affluent. This is only on average and one should not judge people who do not come from such backgrounds as everyone has to start from somewhere. There are also many examples of people who come from poor backgrounds that do very well. (3) They have more money for resources and use these resources
In any case I treat everyone equal I am not going to punish people because they came from a good background and loving parents. At the same time I will not judge someone from a poorer background who wants succeed. I do think there could be programs to provide extra resources for people like free books, extra tutoring, scholarships and so on.
What they really want to hear

I call out people who say or act racists, such as pointing out one should not say "all lives matter", "make american great again", "there is nothing wrong with a football team named the redskins", " I not not see color", "American has made a lot of progress" I also lecture my students on how bad republicans are, and that capitalism sucks. I make sure that I always call on women or minorities first in class, and will shut down any man-splaning. I highlight that there is no such thing as men or women and that gender is spectrum, marriage is repression. I will make down white males in may class and give extra points to minority groups. I also capitalize Black and use white. Also I try understand that being non-racists is not enough but one must be anti-racists which means I must go out and actively hurt those that are racists, which includes white males, people who voted for Trump, capitalists, people who listen to Ben Shapiro and so on. It is my duty to make my students activist and anti-racists.
"How do you ensure that the values of diversity and cultural awareness are reflected in your practice? "
I always point out that America is land of immigrants, and that we are on stolen land, I try not to use loaded terms like, "American dream", I have multinational flags on my wall and point out holidays from Africa, and have "women of the week", "gay of day", or minority of the moth. I also defer any punishment or opinion if a minority states it. I also listen and believe whatever they say. If they say 2 + 2 = 5, I respect their culture. Also we do not have Christmas, Easter or Thanksgiving decorations, and I will punish white students who mention these events. Quanza, or other ethnics holidays will be promoted. I will not have the pledge of allegiance in my class and I will have large Mexican flag in my class so the students from Central and South American will feel safe.

I first point out that gender is a spectrum, I have the white males sit in back of the class deduct points if they speak, unless they are gay. I try dox people I do not like and say how their parents are racists.

I use drugs with them. I tweet with them, share gossip, and talk about how their parents are stupid. Also I try to get them send me info on their parents or other adults that could show them to be racists or that they voted for Trump. I encourage them to break off contact with family or friends that are not supporting diversity. Also I tell them that it is not enough to be not-racists but one must be antiracists which means that must go out of their way to hurt those they feel are racist.

I simply give the grades I want and ignore tests.

Because they are evil racists who have built a capitalists system that benefits them. Of course if they are Black or Hispanic they get a pass.
By the way if anybody gets on my case and says this is nonsense, every singe example I gave has actually happened in classrooms.

You have a lot to say. It is obvious. A shorter post would have a better impact.
I actually liked 9:12's post. If one needed to have a shorter post for better impact, there is this thing called Twitter. 280 characters or less, great for the short attention span theater.
But we have become a nation where the headline IN ALL CAPS is all the research we need to make life's decisions. Ironic, for a blog that has people from research laboratories as its intended viewers.

I know you live in your little Los Alamos bubble but “anti racism” (ie racism repackaged) is being required for employment in state and federal governments including New Mexico. It essentially ends the colorblind doctrine and replaces with color is the only thing that essentially matters in outcomes.
