We call on all people and governments everywhere to clearly condemn all nuclear threats, explicit or implicit, and any use of such weapons. With this statement, we add our voices to those already speaking out about the immense danger posed by nuclear weapons and call for immediate and concrete actions towards their elimination.
Well that sure clears thing up, without this letter we would have no idea how dangerous this is. I doubt LANL's pit facility will be seen as the
concrete action they are thinking but who knows they do not seem have any actual proposals for action.

Although this has large list of national academy members and Nobel prize winners, what is more remarkable is that a much and I do mean much large number in these groups did not sign. I am sure all them got this letter and they could only get 10% to sign it. Kind of telling. Whenever you see these "open letters" just ask yourself how many people did not sign it. Humans a good a noticing things are present but they are not good at noting things that are missing.
Many more would have signed, if they were courageous. Strong belief but ... no .. guts!

Completely disagree, these are academics and there is no danger whatsoever to signing this. I suspect the rest do not care or do not agree.
What does this have to with LLNL or LANL?

I doubt there is a single Ph.D scientists who supports Russia. Anyone with any kind of intelligence knows what a threat Putin is to the United States and the world. This new cold war started when Russia literally put Trump into office, Trump tried to take secrets out of the white house to know doubt sell to Russia. If you want to make sure Trump does not come back 2024 then you have to agree that Russia must be defeated at any cost. This is high stakes folks.

You should get out of your bubble. I know and have known many. I'm not a Republican since Trump, but if the party ever regains its senses and conservative principles (Trump is not a conservative and neither are most of his MAGA cultists), I'll happily rejoin the party.
