What about Thorium?

Thorium was tested from 1965 and abandoned in 1969 for reasons explained in this short video.

Is there a chance that it will be revisited now that there are advances in fusion research?

The “experts” who remain in the United States aren’t Glenn Seaborg. Instead they are shameless career bureaucrats who peddle political chits for personal gain.

Nonsense. There are plenty of experts. Working scientists are not "career bureaucrats." Your cynicism is not helping this country get over its problems.

TELLER himself supported this idea, near the end of his life. It's a good idea however the Oak Ridge reactor actually burned Uranium isotopes made from Thorium in other reactors, that reactor was not set up to actually burn Th. There were evidently a number of problems with it that aren't yet solved.

5:41 today, the number of nuclear engineers per reactor is ten times what it was in 1960. Tell me again how much they contribute per capita. Cynical or not, the facts speak for themselves.

Of course, if they're cherry-picked out of context.

5:10 what are the other nine nuclear engineers doing in this country? Take your time; I’ll wait.

No idea. I'm not a nuclear engineer, and neither are you. Doesn't keep you from having unfounded opinions about what they do, though.

5:31 the present state derives directly and inexorably from what they do not do. If nuclear reactors were built by opinions, this whole discussion would be unnecessary.

An educated response, as usual.

…and no thorium, or any other type of reactors, get built. See the problem yet?
