NNSA labs versus Musk.

It is becoming clear Musk is now the enemy of humanity, can the NNSA labs lead the fight against of Musk?

This should be good for a couple of bags of popcorn.

I just heard that FBI is and intelligence agencies are expecting some kind of massive cyber attack next year where MAGA and the Russians join forces to bring down the internet and power grid. Guys like Musk are going to unintentionally aid in this by allowing all these crazies a way to communicate with each other all in the name of free speech. The ironic part is that if these people ever come back into power again the first thing they will do is eliminate free speech. There is the paradox of tolerance. You cannot tolerate intolerance. If we allow free speech to people that want to get rid of free speech and put in a dictatorship then we will lose free speech forever.

Free speech has limits, if you yell fire in in theatre it is illegal, if you calling for over throw of America, it is a problem, this is not hard to understand. 2024 is the most important election not just in the United States history but considering how interconnected the world is it is the most important election in human history. This could be the end of freedom for everyone, we could have ww3, power outages, food shortages, and climate disaster. Think about that. As for what the labs can do, cyber security, software to show fake news, fact checking software, the ability to track individuals on social media, and so on. We have a role to play.

Interesting. Please explain.

7:25 am: Most people do not realize this, but it is Tesla's solar roof and electric cars that are the real threat, and not his acquisition of twitter. Once the internet and power grid are taken out, his followers will still have solar energy, and transportation through electric cars, what if they utilize their first amendment rights for "freedom of assembly" while others cannot. They could also use solar power to set up radio communication or even reconstruct an uncensored internet for themselves, using this of course to conspire on behalf of the Russian takeover.

Curious - Where does Musk rank with the following:

Yakubu Gowon; Nigeria (1.1M deaths)

Mengistu Haile Mariam; Ethiopia (400K–1.5M deaths)

Kim Il Sung; North Korea (1.6M deaths)

Pol Pot – Cambodia; (1.7M deaths)

Ismail Enver Pasha; Turkey (2.5M deaths)

Hideki Tojo; Japan (5M deaths)

Leopold II; Belgium (2-15M deaths)

Adolf Hitler; Germany (17M deaths)

Jozef Stalin; Russia/Soviet Union (23M deaths)

Mao Zedong; China (49-78M deaths)

That's an odd top 10 list -- didn't Japan kill a lot more people than that, in China for example?

You've also left out Genghis Khan, who reportedly killed 40 to 60 million people, over 10% of the world's population at the time.

Stalin deserves some credit for defeating the Nazis who otherwise might have killed even more Russians. Is it fair to blame him for the whole 23M figure you cited?

While you may call it an "odd" top ten list, the question remains:

How does Musk stack up to the folks mentioned if he's such a threat to humanity?

The other question remains, even if he was such a risk, what are the labs of the NNSA community supposed to do? Put him in the target chamber of NIF and run a shot? They are research laboratories, I would hope that science is the driver for these institutions, not political science.

The top 10 list is pointless, the point is to stop Musk before me makes or even tops the the top ten list. That is about recognizing the threat and stoping before it happens. I have no idea how bad it could get but considering his the richest man on earth and clearly a psychotic because he let Trump and Alex Jones have a platform there is no telling how bad it can get. Right now some of the top minds are saying that if Trump gets back he will become a dictator. Even Trump himself said this. By the way how many deaths would FDR have...maybe 3.5 million?

The labs about national security, the labs play all sorts of roles. Someone pointed out how the labs could help in taking fake news, tracking how posts what on social media, tracking people, how to shut down illegal commuctions and so on. 2024 things could start to become crazy with social unrest the labs should start preparing for this.

Tracking social media posts, tracking people, shutting down communications and so on. We have a whole lot of 3 letter government agencies doing that already, why involve the labs?

I thought the book 1984 was a comment on future society, not a blueprint.

These “how can the Labs save the world from (insert insane, made up threat here)?” threads would be funny if they weren’t so sad.

Do you think the book of Revelation is a comment on future society, or a blueprint?

1984 - A book of end times brought about by man
Revelation - A book of end times brought about by God

I see a difference, you may not. In today's society, I am allowed to see that difference.
But apparently, there are those who would track me, tag me and silence me for believing that difference.

The national labs should be neutral in that discussion, unless you think their technical prowess serves the "greater good" of tracking, tagging and suppression of speech.

5:47 -- I think there's a specific concern that some people have, for example putting in place a system where people cannot buy or sell without taking a "mark", possibly involves a sort of government overreach perhaps in combination with big tech. That could have been the question raised by the 8:13 post, for example.

Certainly while God's wrath is brought about by God himself, I would think, it could involve human agency, collaboration, or indifference to take place this is but one example. It could be problematic that indifference occurs due to censorship, of course -- getting back to the original discussion this is one point in Musk's favor.

Of course, you're right that the national labs should be neutral in this discussion, but the 1984 interpretation also seems a bit concerning. Also for the people who advocate for the system described in the 11:07 am post, wouldn't it be a concern that some future leader would use it in an unwise fashion -- for example Trump if you're not a supporter, since he's currently favored to win in polls?

Elon Musk also of course, depends partly on China for sales and production of his cars, and wasn't Mao at the top of the top ten list?

Elon Musk does indeed depend on China.
So Does Apple, Nike, The NBA, Hollywood and myself, given that a number of drugs keeping me alive are probably sourced from there as well.

Just about any manufactured good is sourced from China in this era. Given the profit margin and the potential market of 1.4 billion people, US companies will continue to curry favor from that region. We've played the part of the Snake Charmer and I believe the snake is realizing he is the main attraction.
