The government has restricted access to the AI model which is the best existing model for math, science, and coding so that foreign nationals will not have access going forward. Currently access is also disabled for US citizens as there is no mechanism to verify nationality.

Fable is a very good model and a definite upgrade. It was definitely better than all the competition.
Forcing it to be taken down is suspicious. Rather than regulation or safety it seems more likely that it is a way of putting a thumb on the scale for OpenAI. Sam Altman is a very sleazy operator and it seems utterly consistent with his behavior and the administration. Maybe it was a safety measure, but given everyone's track record, it could well be more corruption and BS.
