Changing of the World Order.

2025 could be a big year for the US. It seems like many things are coming together to shake up the United States position in the world.
We have the election, war in Israel and the middle east,. There is no sign of the end of the war in Ukraine. Also the rise of AI is staring to really kick off. There are lots of signs of economics upticks however the reality is younger people simply will not be able live anything like the lifestyle that boomers, Gen Xs lived. The mass immigration is also going to change quality of life for young people. At some point something is simply going to break. Like it or not this will have implications for the labs.

I am not sure that things are really changing very much, and some of the changes could be positive. With fossil fuels our civilization has been limited in its energy and resource usage, especially after OPEC and the 1970's, whereas various forms of renewable energy may be eventually abundant. The US also may dominate AI which could benefit the country in a number of ways. The political polarization we have been seeing is (on the positive side) leading to greater political engagement and of course the US has gone through similar periods such as in the 60's and 70's. Industry and manufacturing is growing in North America, which will create jobs, and so on. The US also has stronger ties with allies in the Pacific as well as Europe, and India is becoming a new source of growth for the global economy.

Yes, on the negative side we could all be doomed, I agree, but there could be most likely a positive outcome if that does not come to pass. For example see this article from NPR:

You make a good point I also I am not that gloomy as overall world will be fine. I personally believe that even if the United States shows a sharp decline that world cam continue with technology, space exploration, and advances in clean fuel. The question is if American is heading for a collapse? It is not unthinkable, we could have a civil war, or even a splitting of the nation the next election round. It could be that we turn into some kind of dictatorship. Of course we survived a Civil war before, but now there are lots of nation states that would jump at the chance to take advantage of a breakdown of American power. We would have our own problems to deal with before we send troops all over the globe. China could take Taiwan or even Japan, Russia could attack NATO, and there could be a rush of 20 to 50 million migrants in to the US in short time. At that point our conventional forces will be bogged down trying to keep Florida and Texas in the Union so the only choice we will have is to go nuclear in the rest of the world.

The 2024 election could be tipping point for a whole lot of things. I have a hard time seeing the left ever accepting Trump, if it is close the right will not accepted Biden again and it is close. The nation is deeply, deeply divided, each side thinks the other side is utterly evil. We have seen it on this blog and this is small potatoes. I cannot tell you have many families I know that are have estranged family members due to politics, the number of people that have no faith in any of the media, or the congress.

You said "I am not gloomy" but in the next paragraph you say "
It could be that we turn into some kind of dictatorship"
Isn't that gloomy?

Gloomy for the US, I think the world will go on. China, India, Europe and so on will simply fill the void. My guess is if the US collapses, breaks up or just goes though a huge downgrade, people like Musk, Bezos and Gates will team up with China. They already do that to some extent.

No need to be gloomy I think we can still get out of this. If could jail Trump, get rid of MAGA, end the Electoral
college, stack the Supreme Court, ban Voter ID and censor free speech we can still save democracy.

As the world gets more dangerous in terms of geopolitical situations, the rise of AI and climate change we will
need to rethink just how much indvidual freedom we will all have. Too much and will be be powerless to do anything.
It is not gloomy it is just adapting democracy toward a more efficient outcomes.

Not to beat a dead horse but the moderation of this blog is pretty funny. In the past I have posted whole paragraphs from Mein Kamph, Jim Jones, Charles Manson, the Communists Manifesto, the chronicles of the Elders of Zion. All you have to do is say it against Trump or simply add the word Trump and bingo it gets posted, usually followed by a number of posts agreeing. The above is yet another example.

Sigh I guess I am gloomy in that people seem to have no cultural competency, current or historical.

I think the next step will be to add some quotes from the Lesser Key of Solomon and see if anyone would notice.
