Miller talk. Crocodile tears about injury at Rochester, soon followed by the proclamation about NIF being free of safety incidents (but wasn't the ladder incident in NIF?). Odd comment that he had "broken" (I think that was the word he used) S. Houghton who is resigning. Funky music with images of "achievements" by LLNL. Would not confirm rumor that world wide web access is being cut off. Berated employees who have tossed their "we value" cards. Zero questions for him from the audience. Did I miss any high points from this inspiring presentation?

You livermites are the worse example of unity I've ever seen. Your blog or should I say lack of participation tells DOE, NNSA & LLNS all they need to know. They can do what they want, any time they wish, and all you'll do is bend over and take it. Even in a time when you're wages are 20% behind inflation you refuse to ask where's your 20%, while ULM get huge pay raises, bonus checks and build their nest eggs at your expense. It seems the Livermite's lack of action, involvement and complacency is a prime example of what has ruined this country and turned the mass majority into corporate America's lacky's. You get what you allow. Enjoy you dilemma..

Yeah, you missed the part about how "everything is good", and "we have a bright future." Not sure who "we" is. Maybe he was referring to ULM.
There have been several incidents that have occured on NIF that could have resulted in serious injury or death. Just dumb luck nothing happened other than broken hardware and embarrassment.
Anyone who believes the NIF safety mythology is extremely gullible. Ask any safety professional worth his salt about the old saying in the biz, "if all you want is good numbers, you will get good numbers". It is simple to cook the books in safety reporting. LLNL has been doing it for many years. Unfortunately, all of the ethical pros from HCD left for the hills long ago.

I don't think it's LANL that has little time. I think you livermites are going to be in for a big surprise in a few months. Little WFO, dwindling funds and rising cost of operations in some of your larger projects. The word on the street today as of 8/15/08 is this. LLNL has funding problems regardless of what King George has told you and they're not going to get any better. I'd be looking for the big fish to jump ship leaving the dirty work to whomever elects to take their places. As you well know the resolution to all funding issues is to reduce the work force not to reduce the number of exuberantly paid managers.

I'm pretty sure that word doesn't mean what you think it means...

Who care ? They are paid way to much for what they do and there's far to many managers at LLNL. A 75% cut on Monday morning would be just fine, then divert their wages to those who are actually doing the work and I don't mean white collar workers. Most of us are 20% behind in our take home pay and keep falling behind year after year while at the same time witness ULM pulling far ahead of the curve.
