LANS lawyered up over fence failure
There are some reports that claim a legal battle is brewing over the TA 55 security fence construction project. Always thought that LANS had some good in house lawyers so this must be a really strange deal if they have to bring in outside legal big guns. On the outside it doesn't look like much of a case, since the problems apparently had been widely known for over a year. It could also just be a ploy to divert attention away long enough for the board to find some new leaders.

That was the Rodey Law Firm that took on the LANL litigants back in the day. Is the Lab using these crooks again to take on this case?
The first question that must be answered: Is LANS up to managing LANL? Once we can answer this very vital question, then we can proceed to fix all of the problems facing LANL.
Once LANL starts hiring the "Big Guns" to defend their behind, you can rest assured it's gonna big big. Start counting the $$$ lower moral, bad press, and more attention to a broken Lab.
Once Captain D'Agostino goes -- which should be fairly soon now given his long list of documented failures... anyone remember his glorious "Complex 2030" hype? -- then you can expect that both LANS and LLNS will follow out the front door with their Bechtel buddies.
It was D'Agostino who single handedly decided on LANS/Bechtel as the LANL contractor. It was one of D'Agostino's hand-picked loyalist who then single handedly selected LLNS/Bechtel for the subsequent LLNL contractor.
On the downside, you can also expected some rather nasty "right-sizing" of the complex to take place soon after D'Agostino, LANS and LLNS are finally given the boot by Congress. Duck & cover!

Where's the downside to any of this? Frankly, the taxpayers are sick and tired of all the golden toilet seats, particularly at LANL.
