Given this years inflation rate what might our LLNS pension % COLA be this Summer?
Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. The stupidity arises from the fact that a huge population is placed at risk in the short and long term. Why do this kind of experiment in a heavily populated area? Only a moron would push that kind of imbecile area. Do it somewhere else in the god forsaken hills of Los Alamos. Why should the communities in the Bay Area be subjected to such increased risk just because the lab's NIF has failed twice and is trying the Hail Mary pass of doing an SNM experiment just to justify their existence? Those Laser EoS techniques and the people analyzing the raw data are all just BAD anyways. You know what comes next after they do the experiment. They'll figure out that they need larger samples. More risk for the local population. Stop this imbecilic pursuit. They wan...

Your wanna-be for-profit LLC perspective (no free market competition consequences) and honesty are appreciated, but soon to be replaced by a non-profit like TRIAD. Tick-tock.
Take an honest poll and ask LANL employees if they like working for Triad.
Let's have an "honest" poll at LLNL and ask LLNS employees if we like working for LLNS, (which in practice is ruled by Bechtel), over UC/LLNL in terms of work environment, perceived appreciation and respect for the scientific and engineering workforce efforts and talent, medical benefits, and compensation? I think the NNSA has already chimed in on this pay more get less contractor scheme with our "sister lab" LANL. Goodbye LANS hello TRIAD.

Better than tarring flat roof adobes all day! Or flipping patties at Blake's Lotaburger!
(just a few of the many other opportunities in Norte Nuevo Mexico)
That would have been a classified petition, not a "poll" in any sense, just disgruntled, unpatriotic employees. If it happened at all, the Director rightly ignored it, He was under orders like everyone else.

I did, a rather informal one but I did and yes they all like working for Traid and agree Traid is much better than LANS. perhaps I can only speak for a portion of the lab but unless you know something I do not I would say your assessment is rather off. In general the place has improved after Triad came in. Perhaps not some great leaps and bounds but by either a small amount or moderate amount and it all adds up. Just a few things (1) paper work seems much more efficient now, this is a big one. (2) Getting stuff seems easier. (3) Some of the worst managers are gone. (4) there seems a step up in professionalism. (5) stuff seems to be fixed faster.
Of course it is still LANL with all the NNSA rules and so on, chasing money, politics and so on but when you add up all the things that have gotten better it is pretty good. Now there could some issues with benefits and so on that I am not aware but my assent of 1-5 seems to be in agreement with improvements.
If you have some specific issues or your own poll I would like to hear it. Perhaps in your group there are issues that have increases since Triad.
