How can national labs join the fight for democracy?

So Biden laid down the gauntlet on we stand as a nation and that we in one of the most perilous moments in our history. He made it very clear who the enemy is and the treat is greater than anything from China and Russia. How can the labs joint the fight in saving the US democracy. People keep sayin the blog is not suppose to be about politics but is becoming clear that the labs are going to have to get involved.

The Biden speech was electrifying, the visuals stunning, the soldiers standing in back gave the message which side the military is on and the red lights. I have never seen a president give such a speech, I and millions where moved, it must have been like hearing Churchill in 1940 or FDR in 1941. This is the first step in admitting that our nation is at great risk, but after tonights speech I am now more hopefull than ever we can save the US and that chunk of the American fascists should be afraid very afraid.

I have some suggestions to deal with the insurrectionists.

(1) You better renounce the insurrection or you lose your clearance.

(2) They should be put on a watchlist if they fly.

(3) They should not be allowed in positions of authority.

(4) We should really think about not letting them vote.

(5) Their guns should be taken away.

We have 74 million extremists in our nation. They are treat to freedom, they are a threat to very soul of this nation and must be stoped, not just for the sake of the
US but for all freedom loving people of the world. The question is what to do with 74 million, can they be reformed, can they be educated, can the still be of some value to the nation, we cannot tolerate intolerance.

You're as bonkers as the Trumpists are. Back off the crazy stuff and try to regain a normal life with normal reactions to stuff.

Excuse but on Jan 6th we had a armed rebellion which would have resulted in thousands of dead people a dictator for life and the end of the United States. Also do you have any doubt that if Trump was successful on his coup attempt he lead on Jan 6th that he would have not implemented martial law, concentration camps and mass death against minorities. We where that close to losing the nation, so no I am not bonkers you are just a person with their head in the sand. The fact that Trump could come back should make you very afraid because if he does you know it will a full fascist regime. I am not bonkers, I simply see what is going on and all the hate. As Biden even said we are not living in normal times and we will not live in normal times until we rid ourselves of the extremists.

What was so bad about Bidens speech?

Citizens of the civilized nation, on this day we mark a transition. For a two hundred years, the Republic stood as the crowning achievement of civilized beings. But there were those who would set us against one another, and we took up arms to defend our way of life against the Separatists. In so doing, we never suspected that the greatest threat came from within.
The Trumpest, and some within our own Senate and Congress, had conspired to create the shadow of Separatism using one of their own as the enemy's leader. They had hoped to grind the Republic into ruin. But the hatred in their hearts could not be hidden forever. At last, there came a day when our enemies showed their true natures
on Jan 6th.

Saving the democracy of the United States from what, exactly? As far as I can tell, voting and elections continue, government is still providing the National Labs with $$, and politicians are still beclowning themselves on all forms of media, so it appears that democracy is intact.

I think what you meant is using politics and government to remove people and views you don’t agree with. When you start believing that you are the country because your party is in power, that is an error. As Boss Jim Gettys said to Kane in Citizen Kane, “You're the greatest fool I've ever known, Kane. If it was anybody else, I'd say what's going to happen to you would be a lesson to you. Only you're going to need more than one lesson. And you're going to get more than one lesson.”

Joining and contributing to a political party these days is the choice between Neo-Nazi Republicans or Neo-Communist Democrats. Never mind that they have renamed themselves MAGA and Woke. Maybe, just maybe, it is time for the emergence of a Mainstream party, which would embrace the more rational mores, desires, and vision of Middle America. --- Nah! never happen, the illiterate brutes on both sides of the fence will destroy our democratic republic before anyone comes to their senses.

Plutonium Shots on NIF.

Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. The stupidity arises from the fact that a huge population is placed at risk in the short and long term. Why do this kind of experiment in a heavily populated area? Only a moron would push that kind of imbecile area. Do it somewhere else in the god forsaken hills of Los Alamos. Why should the communities in the Bay Area be subjected to such increased risk just because the lab's NIF has failed twice and is trying the Hail Mary pass of doing an SNM experiment just to justify their existence? Those Laser EoS techniques and the people analyzing the raw data are all just BAD anyways. You know what comes next after they do the experiment. They'll figure out that they need larger samples. More risk for the local population. Stop this imbecilic pursuit. They wan...

Trump is to gut the labs.

The budget has a 20% decrease to DOE office of science, 20% cut to NIH. NASA also gets a cut. This will  have a huge negative effect on the lab. Crazy, juts crazy. He also wants to cut NEA and PBS, this may not seem like  a big deal but they get very little money and do great things.

Rumor corner

LLNS may have excluded the wrong people in last VSSOP? The exclusions were based on outdated job categories and related skills. ULM are now thinking that in the future, job categories and functional areas will have to be re-defined. The next VSSOP/ISP will be based on the new categories and functional areas. The questions I have are: 1) Why didnt they think of that before the transition. It seems like their style is “change things as you go”. Planning is out the window! 2) Who will give input on the new changes? The next RIF apparently is going to be more lucrative than the VSSOP. Depending on the length of employment, a RIFed person, not only gets their 1 week pay per year of service but also from 30 to 120 days notice, essentially 30 to 120 days pay. Please feel free to comment on the rumors or add new ones you actually heard.
