What do people here think of the Chinese spy balloon? I think it was clear it was meant to obtain surveillance data on the minuteman sites.
Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. The stupidity arises from the fact that a huge population is placed at risk in the short and long term. Why do this kind of experiment in a heavily populated area? Only a moron would push that kind of imbecile area. Do it somewhere else in the god forsaken hills of Los Alamos. Why should the communities in the Bay Area be subjected to such increased risk just because the lab's NIF has failed twice and is trying the Hail Mary pass of doing an SNM experiment just to justify their existence? The nation has been falling apart since Trump came in. During Trumps time multiple Chinese balloons flew over the US and he covered it up, yet he has the audacity to blame Biden? Now I know some of your are going to say that this is fake news from an anonymous source and that Pentagon officials have come and said this is incorrect. All I can say that that is Russian propaganda. Trump owns this, just like Trump gave the go ahead to Russia to invade Ukraine.

(1) Makes the US look weak.
(2) We will now have to spend lots of money to make sure our information is safe from this kind of surveillance. Although it is true that a lot of information can be gained from satellites having a slower moving vehicle at lower altitudes can potential get you different kinds of information.
(3) China knows it send in a balloon anytime it wants.
(4) We have open borders for millions of people to just show up, why not let balloons in.

Apparently during Trumps times Chinese balloons went over the US all the time. The intelligence agencies and the military thankfully would not inform Trump this because they knew he was crazy and a Russian asset. Thank god we had adults in the room who did the right thing and hid that information. It scares me how close we came go losing our nation in 2016-2020. We know we can trust the CIA, FBI and the military to protect us form Trump.
Completely false, lying post. NORAD has admitted it failed to detect the three (not "all the time") balloons that overflew during the Trump administration. Collected the data but their radar is not equipped to flag very slow-moving objects. They admit it is a flaw they need to fix. We didn't come "close to losing our nation," get a grip. At least try for a little bit of intellectual honesty.

What on earth are you talking about? I am not seeing in any of news of this sort in my feeds. Let me guess you heard this on Fox news. Stop living in your echo chamber. There had been endless news reports saying the balloons came across in Trumps time, so Trump getting on Bidens case makes no sense. At least Biden did something while trump ate hamburgers. I am not sure what news reports you looking at.
Broaden your news sources and you will find the truth. Hint: It's not Fox.

I am not about to look for stuff that is even more on the fringe than Fox. Fox is bad enough but you have all those propoganda sites like zero hedge, Alex Jones, Epoch times, and you have the stuff with obvious bias like Daily wire, Glenn Beck. You can say what you want about left wing bias at MSNBC and the New York Times but at least they have some journalists standards. Maybe you need to broaden your news sources to include something out of your echo chamber. Fake news is a real danger to democracy.
I think the Chinese balloon is a cause for concern but we really need to defeat Russia and get Putin out. I think once that happens any tension with China will cool. Right now Russia is the biggest issue in the world in terms of stability. It is time to put this to an end and beat Russia once and for all.
I was suggesting more balanced and technical news sources, not left or right. Anyone can find, for example, that American U2's followed that balloon all across the US and gathered a treasure trove of technical data on the balloon's surveillance capabilities, not to mention the earlier statements admitting the lack of capability from NORAD. Like I said, broaden your sources outside politically-biased ones.
