So the Physics-Theory Division had a fairly controversial Speaker:
Dr. Taharee A. Jackson, she has written some pretty hard left CRT, DEI stuff that is mixed with strong extreme left wing politics. Type her name into google and you will see what I mean. Why was this talk in seminar series for science, it had no actual science in it at
all. Overall the talk had a lot of personal anecdotes a lot of comments that where completely wrong and very little in the way of actual statistics. All the tropes against men and whites are known to be completely wrong and trivial to check. Some of the specific actions to do at the workplace seemed legit but we already have a lot of this already but maybe someone got something of it. The talk also seemed to have clear political bent to with. I liked the picture with DeSantis as a bad guy. She should have stuck with specific actions, links to other programs that work and so on.
Comments
The speakers slides also have pictures of Trump as a bad man. It was odd to have talk that had a clear political agenda at DOE/NNSA lab. Why not just bring in more speakers to push for political parties or certain religions and so on. I think it is just fine to use taxpayers dollars to fund the agenda of certain political parties. I guess I can invite Ann Coulter out next so she can also give her opinion on DEI efforts and push for her politics as well. I wonder if the committee will say, " we cannot bring Coulter out since she is just a political hack", the problem is you just brought out a speaker like that.
We are locked in a bad marriage none of us alive ever entered into voluntarily. Today we have two very rapidly diverging sets of values that are incompatible with one another. It's best we agree to disagree and amicably part ways Czechoslovakian style (peaceful partition).
I was one of those employees that worked at the “great Lab” under UC/LLNL. Then a few years under LLNS. I assume most of the engineers and scientists commenting on this blog believe there is no solution to mitigate what has transpired over the last 16 years at LLNL. Is it a given(?), that what happens at LLNL is exclusively in the hands of DOE/NNSA, even if lab employees believe mission objectives are on the line? Just asking.
No you're not "just asking." You are attempting to start an argument. If you wanted any true or rational answer, you wouldn't be asking on this blog, where most posters know absolutely nothing about DOE/NNSA, LLNL, LANL, or the rest of the NWC. They just think they do.
Your points distilled down:
1. Any open and anonymous discussion that may depart from the LLNS status quo, is by definition, an argument.
2. One is to be discredited if they raise any areas needing improvement with LLNS outside of a perceived privileged and limited
circle of individuals.
3. This commenter is the only qualified person that understands “DOE/NNSA, LLNL, LANL, or the rest of the NWC”.
4. For this individual, the Labs are doing just fine as is. No need to improve on perfection.

I am not following your line of reasoning on this. I not see how the person is trying to start an argument. I am not sure why asking on this blog is a problem as the person could have been asking these questions in other venues. Many of the posters do seem fairly well versed in DOE/NNSA, DOE and so on. I think it is simply your opinion that they do not, perhaps because they have a different opinion than you do or they in fact know things that you do not. I can assure you that plenty of people on this blog know DOE/NNSA very well and most likely better than you on many issues.
