Lab leak likely origin of COVID

I know some people will say this has nothing to do with the labs, however DOE, LLNL and LANL did a lot of high profile work on Covid and even it so origins. Now DOE is is saying the lab leak is the most likely scenario.

Lab Leak Most Likely Origin of Covid-19 Pandemic, Energy Department Now Says
U.S. agency’s revised assessment is based on new intelligence

So this would just make relations between China and the US even worse. It is amazing how in 2004 we went from Nanos, members of congress and even people at the labs saying how the labs are irrelevant and nuclear weapons will play no role in the future of the world. Now in 2023 we closer to nuclear war than most of the times in the cold war. Of course some weird blog naysayer will say this is irrelevant to the labs. I am not sure if these people are just miss-informed, really bitter, or some kind of foreign trolls.

There is no reliable data, said DOE.
There is no consensus at the White House either. Why even make info public?

Somebody leaked the classified report. No stopping the national news then. Plus "low confidence" in intel space is usually ignored.

FBI chief Christopher Wray says China lab leak most likely.

Mr Wray's comments come a day after the US ambassador to China called for the country to "be more honest" about Covid's origins.

"Low confidence" only means "no smoking gun was observed in a hand"
People have been convicted by a jury of their peers with less.

This is from the energy department. Sure that could be good for how to look at power grids but what do these energy guys know about epidemics. It is completely outside of their lane. Why would anyone take something serious on biology from energy people?

Maybe because they've been in the field of research for a long time?

The DOE national labs all have intel organizations that work with and interact daily with the rest of the US intel community. In case you didn't know (on a LLNL blog??), DOE does nuclear weapons too, including intel on other countries' nuclear weapons.

8:34 maybe you should stay in your lane. You apparently have no clue what is and isn’t done at DOE labs.

You have not been paying attention to the news, Stephen Colbert called out the DOE or not staying their lane. Do keep up

Stephen Colbert tells Department of Energy 'stay in your lane' after lab leak report
Late-night host Stephen Colbert ridiculed new intelligence from the Department of Energy leading them to believe a lab leak was the most likely reason for the COVID-19 pandemic.

1:49 So, you use Stephen Colbert as your subject matter expert on global pandemics? Good to know.

Your reply did not refute 3/02/2023 7:13 PM. As usual, Colbert has no idea what he's talking about.

Excuse me but the last time I checked Colbert is considered a expert on the news and is certainly more intelligent than any Fox viewers. Like millions of Americans I trust Colbert. It simply makes sense the department of energy does energy why would it do anything else? I am not going to trust some rando of a LLNL Blog. I listen to experts and Colbert is media expert.

Plutonium Shots on NIF.

Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. The stupidity arises from the fact that a huge population is placed at risk in the short and long term. Why do this kind of experiment in a heavily populated area? Only a moron would push that kind of imbecile area. Do it somewhere else in the god forsaken hills of Los Alamos. Why should the communities in the Bay Area be subjected to such increased risk just because the lab's NIF has failed twice and is trying the Hail Mary pass of doing an SNM experiment just to justify their existence? Those Laser EoS techniques and the people analyzing the raw data are all just BAD anyways. You know what comes next after they do the experiment. They'll figure out that they need larger samples. More risk for the local population. Stop this imbecilic pursuit. They wan...

Trump is to gut the labs.

The budget has a 20% decrease to DOE office of science, 20% cut to NIH. NASA also gets a cut. This will  have a huge negative effect on the lab. Crazy, juts crazy. He also wants to cut NEA and PBS, this may not seem like  a big deal but they get very little money and do great things.

LLNL un-diversity

Actual post from Dec. 15 from one of the streams. This is a real topic. As far as promoting women and minorities even if their qualifications are not as good as the white male scientists, I am all for it. We need diversity at the lab and if that is what it takes, so be it.  Quit your whining. Look around the lab, what do you see? White male geezers. How many African Americans do you see at the lab? Virtually none. LLNL is one of the MOST undiverse places you will see. Face it folks, LLNL is an institution of white male privilege and they don't want to give up their privileged positions. California, a state of majority Hispanics has the "crown jewel" LLNL nestled in the middle of it with very FEW Hispanics at all!
