The blog entry "Seeking retiree's support" is out of date. We now have a New Web Site . We are working with three law firms and are collecting contributions for purchasing legal action. Our lawyers have done a preliminary analysis of our situation and believe the case should be pursued.

You will find the information posted on your blog In one of last year's status reports. Under the Status Reports heading on the left hand side of our main page, you will find a first in last out pushdown stack providing a history of our activities. There are also newspaper articles and other documents that may be of interest.

Anyone who would like to join our efforts can do so by clicking on "tell me yes" on the web site or sending their name and email address in an email to llnlretiree@comcast.net. Our only way of reaching retirees is by word of mouth since we can't obtain a list of retirees.

I think once people retire from this place the last thing they'll want to do is be involved in what's happening to LLNL. I know for me once I leave I will delete the URL and never visit again. There will be far to many things to do in a short period of time to concern myself with the national labs, our nuclear weapons stockpile, government waste, pay raises, ULM corruption, bonus checks or the injustice put upon its employees.

Think for a minute. You retire from LLNL does not mean you are done with LLNS. The provide your retirement benefits. They can reduce you health provider choices, increase your part of the premiums, etc...
That is why we have the retiree website to bring up issues!

And there is nothing you can do about it except ask whay is it that UC employees still get a lot better health care then LLNS does for a lot less. The problem is medical was never part of your retirement package which I found shocking after I retired. I was never told that when I was hired but still I have a lot more then anyone who works for LLNS now or in the future will ever have. Basically they now will have Americans working from 18 years old until death. get use to it newbees.

We were all told that medical benefits could change when we were hired. I remember it quite clearly and I have been at the lab for 32 years. You weren't paying attention.

The question is, does UC have the right to change the medical benefits provided for some retirees and not for others? This issue may ultimately have to be resolved in the courts.

UC does not provide retiree medical benefits for LLNS or LANS retirees, no matter when they retired, before or after the transition to corporate takeover. All LLNL and LANL retirees, even those who retired from UC before the transition, now have their retiree medical care under the corporate entities, not UC. If you are still complaining about that, that horse has left the barn.

Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. The stupidity arises from the fact that a huge population is placed at risk in the short and long term. Why do this kind of experiment in a heavily populated area? Only a moron would push that kind of imbecile area. Do it somewhere else in the god forsaken hills of Los Alamos. Why should the communities in the Bay Area be subjected to such increased risk just because the lab's NIF has failed twice and is trying the Hail Mary pass of doing an SNM experiment just to justify their existence? Trump is to gut the labs.

The budget has a 20% decrease to DOE office of science, 20% cut to NIH. NASA also gets a cut. This will  have a huge negative effect on the lab. Crazy, juts crazy. He also wants to cut NEA and PBS, this may not seem like  a big deal but they get very little money and do great things.

Rumor corner

LLNS may have excluded the wrong people in last VSSOP? The exclusions were based on outdated job categories and related skills. ULM are now thinking that in the future, job categories and functional areas will have to be re-defined. The next VSSOP/ISP will be based on the new categories and functional areas. The questions I have are: 1) Why didnt they think of that before the transition. It seems like their style is “change things as you go”. Planning is out the window! 2) Who will give input on the new changes? The next RIF apparently is going to be more lucrative than the VSSOP. Depending on the length of employment, a RIFed person, not only gets their 1 week pay per year of service but also from 30 to 120 days notice, essentially 30 to 120 days pay. Please feel free to comment on the rumors or add new ones you actually heard.
