Charlie "MIT" McMillan Holiday Message
Not to be outdone by "Livermore" the following is our Holiday message from our "fearless" leader none other than Charlie "MIT" McMillan, a REAL leader (which he constantly reminds us), MIT PhD physics graduate (which he constantly reminds us), former LLNL employee and manager (which he constantly reminds us), weapon designer extraordinaire (which he constantly reminds us), the man responsible for bringing us Bret Knapp, our next LANS Director (which he ALWAYS reminds us) and our Savior from the recent Los Conchas Fire (which he constantly reminds us). He's the MAN!
The first thing I’d like to say in this holiday message is "Thank you."
What we have accomplished this year as a Laboratory—thanks to your creativity, innovation, and unwavering dedication to delivering on our commitments—is nothing short of amazing.
We will gather with our families this holiday season knowing that our daily work continues to ensure the peace and prosperity of this nation as it has for the past 70 years.
Our breakthroughs span the entire periodic table and hold promise in fields from medicine, energy security, and nanotechnology to the next generation of supercomputers…and so much more.
I appreciate your commitment to excellence. I know many of you put in long hours. Please send a special thank you to your families for me; we couldn’t do it without their love and support.
I know we are entering uncertain times for the Lab. Chances are, things will still be uncertain when we return from the holiday break. I hope you’ll put those thoughts aside for the next couple of weeks.
Enjoy the spirit of giving as we remember our neighbors who are less fortunate. Take an extra minute or two and relish your time away with family and friends. Remember to do it safely—the holidays can be hectic. Come back refreshed and ready to pick up where we left off.
On behalf of the entire management team, I wish you and your family all the best for this holiday season.
Charlie

Maybe so, maybe no, we don't know? Roll the dice again Marquez, snake-eyes, again?
This makes me BARF in view of the way LANS management, and in particular Bret Knapp, has verbally abused workers at LANS. This is disgusting!
Perhaps a bit modest.
By the way, did anyone actually see McMillan's MIT diploma? I know there have been several individuals from Livermore that had "faked" their academic credentials. It seems everyone has forgotten (and would like to forget) about "Dr." Michael Campbell. I hate to act like Donald Trump, but, can I see McMillan's MIT diploma? Where is it?
Just add it on to the long and growing list of recent embarrassing words and actions. Guess the most expensive house on the Hill is not good enough?

With all the cash he spent on his mansion one would think it would be at least 9-Richter scale "capable".
Since he would rather be inside PF-4 during an a 9-scale earthquake, how can it be arranged for him (and Knapp)? Anybody?
But it is irrelevant now since
one no longer needs a Phd to be at
such a high level. Below is a
some info from the NYT.
---------------------------
Jeff Richardson, a laboratory spokesman, said yesterday that Mr. Campbell had falsely allowed the laboratory to believe he had a doctorate from Princeton University, but that Mr. Campbell's reasons for resigning had nothing to do with the installation.
''In fact,'' Mr. Richardson said, ''Mike had completed his Ph.D. course work when he joined Livermore in 1977, but he never finished his dissertation.''
Asked whether a Ph.D. was a requisite for holding Mr. Campbell's position, Mr. Richardson said, ''We require all senior managers to hold a Ph.D. or its equivalent in experience.''
You can bet that one was vetted at the time of the contract competition.
Oh give it a break. A bachelors from an undergraduate-focused engineering program ranked between the military academies, and an M.S. from a UC campus, is not 'poor'.
We're sorry that for all the Research 1 PhDs on the mesa, they could not scrap together a home team that would be compelling for the contract competition. Go figure.

As everyone but you seems to know, the contract was wired for Bechtel from the start. The Lockheed-Martin opposition, led by Ambassador C. Paul Robinson (ex Lanl AD-NucWeapons, and then Sandia President for several years) and Don Cook(ex Sandia, who subsequently led AWE and is now directing yhr weapons work at all 3 labs and NTS as D'Ag's deputy) never stood a chance.

You must be one of those "warm bodies" we hired from NMSU that works in W-Division? From that perspective Knapp is "supreme".

If the bachelors is NOT from UC Berkeley, which it wasn't, your absolutely right it's JUST A UC campus.
