Cut backs (anonymous source)

The Custodians had a meeting Thursday 12/20 where they were told that the 87 custodian head count will be reduced to 20! They were told restrooms will be cleaned only 2-3 times a week, and not much else. The contract janitors will start receiving their notices Monday, January 7. Happy holidays indeed.

We’ve all read how LANL personnel have to empty their own trash. Now we get to learn how to do that!

Eventually what you are going to see at LLNL is that anyone under John Russo command will be outsourced no matter what LLNL ULM says. That's Bechtel's forte and it's directly relative to cost cutting in manpower, medical cost, pensions planes , wages, etc. Contract personnel will get lower wages, no benefits and no guarantees. That was and is the goal of NNSA / DOE / LLNS. The FTE's that are at LLNL "are the last" to ever be seen. Enjoy what was and hope that you last long enough to get to retirement age. You can bank that LLNS is going to do everything in their power to assure you will not get to the age where you will make the most. As you can see they are already trying to find a way to make sure the TCP-2 people can't possibly build a retirement fund that will allow them to leave at 60. These people will have to work until they are 65 or 70 to have any type of savings at all that will allow them to have a few years after leaving LLNL. Nothing in this transition has been to the employees advantage, NOTHING !!

Did they also tell you they want then to be at work at 4:00AM until 1:00PM.

We have people who can't read the sign outside the restroom door that says, WET FLOORS. They ignore the sign and then come in anyway. How stupid can one be. It seems having their restrooms cleaned is to much of an inconvenience for some. They're then tasked with having to find another restroom to use while the floors are drying. I feel really sorry for these clowns, NO MATTER who they are.

and will be delicious targets for foreign intelligence agencies. Opsec will need to increase high priced staff to watch the unhappy low paid staff, eliminating the cost savings.

Does LLNS just seem dumber than UC or is it really more dumbly run? I CANNOT THINK OF A THING LLNS DOES BETTER.

Raises? Happy employees? Communication, Concern for employee well being? Well-managed layoffs? Staff-retention?

Now let's have $250/hr technical staff doing clerical and janitorial work poorly, while charging program accounts.

I've wondered about that. If management increases turnover by threatening/firing people, something bad is bound to happen. It is a numbers game really. If 1 out of 100,000 people would leak classified documents, and you increase turnover, the security risk increases.

I hope you all vote democrat this year. The Republicans will give away the Farm to the corporations (i.e., Bechtel, et al.), and us workers will have no pensions, no jobs, no nothing.

Plutonium Shots on NIF.

Tri-Valley Cares needs to be on this if they aren't already. We need to make sure that NNSA and LLNL does not make good on promises to pursue such stupid ideas as doing Plutonium experiments on NIF. The stupidity arises from the fact that a huge population is placed at risk in the short and long term. Why do this kind of experiment in a heavily populated area? Only a moron would push that kind of imbecile area. Do it somewhere else in the god forsaken hills of Los Alamos. Why should the communities in the Bay Area be subjected to such increased risk just because the lab's NIF has failed twice and is trying the Hail Mary pass of doing an SNM experiment just to justify their existence? Those Laser EoS techniques and the people analyzing the raw data are all just BAD anyways. You know what comes next after they do the experiment. They'll figure out that they need larger samples. More risk for the local population. Stop this imbecilic pursuit. They wan...

Trump is to gut the labs.

The budget has a 20% decrease to DOE office of science, 20% cut to NIH. NASA also gets a cut. This will  have a huge negative effect on the lab. Crazy, juts crazy. He also wants to cut NEA and PBS, this may not seem like  a big deal but they get very little money and do great things.

Rumor corner

LLNS may have excluded the wrong people in last VSSOP? The exclusions were based on outdated job categories and related skills. ULM are now thinking that in the future, job categories and functional areas will have to be re-defined. The next VSSOP/ISP will be based on the new categories and functional areas. The questions I have are: 1) Why didnt they think of that before the transition. It seems like their style is “change things as you go”. Planning is out the window! 2) Who will give input on the new changes? The next RIF apparently is going to be more lucrative than the VSSOP. Depending on the length of employment, a RIFed person, not only gets their 1 week pay per year of service but also from 30 to 120 days notice, essentially 30 to 120 days pay. Please feel free to comment on the rumors or add new ones you actually heard.
