Everyone gets the cough med at LLNL!
A LLNS manager clearly but secretly steps out of line with pre-bias or prejudice actions, and instead of strongly addressing such behavior by focused punitive measures, everyone gets the cough medicine? Really? That will never work, and surely local NNSA Field Offices know they are part of the problem and not the solution.

I seem to me missing some context here. What was the horrible transgression? Did the person say all lives matter, or did they do something real like say, " I will never promote so and so because they are ..." You know there is a difference one is a real problem and one is not. That is the problem with PC culture, it actually dismisses real issues.

I think the cough medicine for everyone reference simply means that many forms of lab misconduct go unaddressed. In part this occurs because some first hand observers of misconduct keep their objections to such behavior in their pocket. Since the contractor will refuse to take ownership of any manager going rogue, employees get the cough medicine, and non-transparency permits this to occur. Outside of the Lab, the "everybody gets the cough medicine" response to individual misconduct is problematic, because of those pesty body cams, the abundance of pedestrian videos, and open meetings.

I see your point but I think you are talking about a different issues that what is occurring.
Since you brought up body cams lets go with it. By the way body cams on the whole prove cops are innocence like 99.9 % of the time. Because of the 0.01 percent we need to defund the police which will result in more crime. Just so you know there are 15k murders in the US every year of which 8k are black of which that is 93% is black on black. The number of blacks killed by police every year on average like 250. I assume that that some of you can do math and see the point. If you think black lives matter you might want to focus at black and black crime before you force CRT on the labs or any other place. The number lives saved by forcing CRT on the labs is around zero. You would think that anyone who supports CRT might figure out that they could save many more lives by focusing their issues on black on black crime. Suppose they did that and it only...only saved 1% that would be 80 people which is about 10 times more than the 10 people killed unjustly by police every year. Think about it.

The commenter didn't mention BLM or CRT, and your 99.9% "Innocent" stat has no misconduct correlation in a closed culture Lab environment. Furthermore, misconduct is not limited to racial bias. Misconduct can include sexual harassment, conduct that results in an adverse employment decision, or promoting or defending a hostile work environment.
Misconduct does not always go unaddressed at LLNL. They just try to keep it all hush-hush, until they are forced to directly deal with it! Sudden retirements seem to be a good indicator that all was not right with Mr. or Ms. X.

Some good old boys might be "encouraged" to retire. Other upper echelon good old boys, might be moved to another assignment and or promoted. It all depends on how politically connected one is at LLNL.
An "upper echelon good old boy" could be a LLNS employee who knows too much to be fired for fear of a defensive disclosure of other good old boy misconduct, or it could be an "underutilized minority" that can't be touched no matter what shenanigans have occurred. I certainly wouldn't want my daughter working for someone with no accountability for his actions, especially if other women in his domain are too afraid to speak up. Sad, but understandable.
Fire them all and let millennials run the lab. LOL
