Beijing winter olympics

Biden says the U.S. is considering a diplomatic boycott of the Beijing Winter Olympics

Why should Biden do that? LLNL Z-division?

This seems to me to be a question of politics and politics only. Is some one from Livermore, Los Alamos or Sandia participating in the winter games? Is anyone from the NWC involved in some direct manner? If not, why should the labs be involved unless NARAC has to be on call for something nefarious?

Scooby thought it was interesting. It isn't.

I have to agree with my fellow posters. What is occurring with China, or the implications is of no relevance to the labs. Global politics has never had any relevance to the labs or the mission and never will. The only politics that matter is that of inner lab politics of NIF, group leaders or critical race theory training. The labs are not connected to the world and the word does not care about the labs, no one knows the labs exists. Besides the poster that brought up the point is probably a Russian agent. This blog has been filled with endless Russians posters for the past 6 years of more. China is not the problem Russia is the problem, I thought the election of Trump would have made that clear. Scooby please do not post anything about China again as it is a Russian troll plot.

So relevance to the national labs doesn't matter anymore? Got it.

If you don't understand the relevance of world politics to nuclear weapons (LLNL mission #1), then you probably don't understand who you are working for either.

Of course "global politics" in general is important and affects the national labs' mission. However as the OP posited, global politics regarding the Olympics has no such effect. Taking a specific statement and trying to run with it as a globally general idea, is just asinine.

Sigh, it was not actually about the Olympics but the broader implications that China is partially to blame for Covid. Even if it did not come from their lab they way they kept it hush hush was detrimental to the world response. It was sarcastically suggested that that one way to make China pay was to boycott the Olympics. That will teach them. The bigger implication is that China is the biggest threat to the rest of the world, and maybe we should get our act together to face this threat, or learn Mandarin. Right now if one would have to make a bet as to who will be ruling the world in 25 years than China is probably the safer bet.

Fear mongering without evidence and without much thought or actual knowledge of geopolitics or international relations, or history. Just overriding fear of anything or anyone who is different from you.

Agreed, China poses no threat at all, there is no evidence whatsoever that China is threat. It is just fear of anyone or any system different from you. China is not building its nuclear arsenal, not building or testing hypersonic missiles, is at peace with all its neighbors, is reducing the size of its military, is open with its own people, allows freedom of speech, it is very fair with trade laws, is open and anti-racist, is not trying to build ports in any other nation, believes in democracy and does not have any influence on there US media, or computer security. They have no influence on US academics institutions or US big tech, China is on great terms with Russia, which is the real threat, has no influence on social media or US news. Is on board with all clean energy and does not spy on the US at all. They have no ambitions to grow their power or influence and are very tolerant of all other groups of people and ways of life and believe in freedom for all people.

As for history regimes such as China has right now have never ever gone on to try and take over the world, such things have never happened before. Anyone with any knowledge of geopolitics knows that China is not a threat and their type of governance has never lead to global threats. In fact if you happen to know anyone who works with any of the national security agencies they will all say the same thing.

Also I can assure you I have no knowledge of China, geopolitics, international relations or national security. 5:09 PM is also right that my ravings can only be about fear of those different than me and that is exactly why I feel that Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Singapore and Vietnam are stable countries that the US and the rest of the world can work with and are open and becoming more open.

Seriously just who the hell is poster 5: 09pm? Are they a troll or a Chinese hacker? I simply cannot believe someone who works at a NNSA lab or has any kind of eduction would say such a thing? It shows a utterly profound lack of knowledge of basic history and current events. I find the idea that Chinese hackers are actually posting on this blog to be slim but I suppose it is possible.

"Fear mongering without evidence "

Do you want links, lots, lots and lots of links? I understand how one needs evidence for more subtle points but there are certain things that people agree on especially in causal conversation. It is like saying I like the Raiders football team and you reply by saying you did not provide evidence that the Raiders or the game of football exists.

How about this: type in China poses a threat, and you get 51,600,000 hits on google. For the sake of this post you only need to look at the first page. What planet have you been living on that does not have access to the news of the earth?

As for China and the Covid coverup

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/China_COVID-19_cover-up

I could go on and on and on. You can also type in biggest threat to Austirillai, UK, Europe, India, Japan and so on and you get China, starting to see a pattern yet.

In 2021, China had the largest armed forces in the world by active duty military personnel, with about 2.19 million active soldiers. India, the United States, North Korea, and Russia rounded out the top five largest armies respectively, each with over one million active military personnel.

Scooby is just not going to allow any dispute on 11/30/2021 7:41 AM or 11/30/2021 9:15 AM. I wonder why? Usually he is trumpeting his fairness and adhesion to (his) rules, now not so much.
