All Supervisors / Management meeting in building 123 today 5/7/2008
So tell us. How happy are all you guys in management and what's the exit plan for the 5/22/08. We know you were there so who has the balls to tell the working class how it's going to go down. It isn't SDI, or, is it? You have your orders and have been instructed on how you're going to carry them our. So tell us the big plan.

Isn't there enough entropy on the blog without nonsense like this?
I heard they were given a presentation by the police/deputy to help walk us out the gates because there are not enough security guards...?

Looks like there was no entropy at all. Anyone else have some useful information such as poster May 7, 2008 7:05 PM
Some of my co-workers were given boxes to pack their personal items "just in case". The stress keeps getting thicker ...
I heard they were making steel cages in Engineering. When the time comes, they stop by your office and you get in the cage. Cages can attach to each other, like boxcars. When the train gets long enough they wheel you out the west gate.
Tents will be set up for bystanders, and Refreshments will be served.
LLESA-sponsored waterballons will be sold. If you see someone you never did like, take a shot for $1.
In the afternoon is the Manager-sponsored exotic car show and abandoned car auction.
Pirate-plunder day starts on May 26. Employees are encouraged to dress up as pirates. Pirates are free to take computers, office supplies and any non-personal items from any RIFed employee office or cubicle.

Must be a comment from a manager

When you get your 10 minute notice and are escorted you won't be thinking about much of anything except the fact you're gone.

Still waiting for that entropy dispelling confirmation...
I think only physics got together to disseminate what small amount of information they had. In most places, even the division leaders don't completely know what is going - certainly not anyone below that.
Rumor is that when you are notified, you will have some time to pack your personal items, then be escorted to the check out center. You will go through the gauntlet of checking out an you will have to make an appointment with the HR folks for the following week and meet with them at the Sunshine Center where all your benefits etc will be explained - I think I'm going to cough up another hairball.
"then be escorted to the check out center"
What if you decide to get in your car and just go home. This isn't the Army, they can't force anything.
May 9, 2008 6:43 PM
May not be the Army, but it is Federal property with controlled access, security forces, and you have a security badge that comes with significant strings attached. What do you think?
May 9, 2008 11:44 PM
So tell us exactly what would happen if I just walked to the gate calmly, turned my badge over to the guard and said have a good day. Come on tell me, please. I want to hear this BS.
What happens if you are on vacation that day
and not there
I heard a couple of GLs talking and rumor is that if you're off site the day notices are handed out, they will be giving you a phone call telling you to get in touch with your GL to make arrangements to meet and discuss your exit. They will also send your written notice letter in the mail to your house.
Security will then disable your badge electronically, so you can't get in through any of the badge readers. The guards will be notified to be on the lookout for you to stop you at the gate, but that seems like it might not work 100%. Someone will probably get through.

My suggestion would be to say that you are "sick" and wish to go home for now and discuss the situition later. Give them your badge and leave. If it happens to me, that's what I'm going to do. NOTE: This may not be the correct thing to do, nor is this legal advice - it's my opinion and it's waht I'm going to do.
If you are instructed to leave on 5/22 or 5/23, you will still be an employee (and paid a salary) for at least 30 more days, in addition to the ISP pay.
If you want to jeopardize all that money and perhaps face other consequences, go ahead and test the system.
