Rumors of reorganization?

There are rumors floating around about the reorganization of Business Operations and the consolidation of certain Computations functions into Business Operations.
Can anyone confirm?

This may be linked to the rumor I heard from an ULM that Operations and Business has to cut another $3.5 million from its budget before the end of this year.

that is no rumor, Plant enginerring is in the process of it, our name has been change to facility infrasrtuctures and a new org chart was sent out by the rechtel boys; gone off the org chart are superintendents and some supervisors; some superintendents were promoted to acting division leaders the others are in limbo. as one rechtel boss put it to us in a meeting to many supervisors and not enough slots and to many money takers and not enough many makers!! RUMOR around plant after the new org chart came out is that between july and oct middle mangement that dose not have a slot is out the gate!!!!!!!!

They need to.. Its like a spinning top.. All the management on top and the few worker bees left on the bottom. They need to cut out all the levels of management they created after October 1st and drop management down to pick up the slack for the actual workers they got rid of.. Are they too proud that they can't do what needs to be done to keep Business Ops. running successfully? Or do they just not want to get their fingernails dirty? You be the judge!!!!

What a terrible place to work.

"Are they too proud that they can't do what needs to be done to keep Business Ops. running successfully?"

And when did it ever run successfully? HR alone would counter the a "successful" reference.

Us worker bees who are still there just have a different philosophy when we go to work every day. We look at it as just a paycheck, a job that is hard to come by these days. And that's sad because working at the lab used to be so much more. But it's getting increasingly difficult with the changing environment there. Fortunately some of us still love the work we do and the project we're on, so we still have that to focus on. But for how much longer is the question.

Worker bee's are being used in Bus Ops to make it through FY 08 and watch out...more career employees to be laid off 10/1/08.

Today, Frankie announced a new DAD in OPS & BUS that will be charge of integrating IT within the OPS & BUS and pave the way for a centralized IT for the entire Lab.

Great.

Not....

ULM has already shown it's a bunch of brain-donors. Like the move to use a Microsoft e-mail service and forcing the shutdown of any alternate servers than what OpenLabNet offered.

Less security, less capability, harder to support in large scale, payware vs Open Source. For what gain?
