Unattended, neglected BLOG
Interesting how this blog can go so long unattended. No offense, Scooby, but could you clean up your act once in a while? Not all your corespondents are complying with the rules for posting. And you aren't complying with your own rules. This blog now seems like a sad, unattended vacation house with mouldy shutters and rotted wood, with 2 foot high weeds at the front door. Pretty sad. Say, any chance you'll be giving it up for good? Nah, too much to hope for.

I agree it is sad! It also sad that you assume Scooby is a machine at your service. I have news for you: Scooby is your average human being that gets sick, takes vacations and gets tied up with projects at work.
If you like to help maintain the BLOG to your satisfaction, please step up the plate; otherwise, dont let the door hit you in .....
Cordially,
Scooby, glad to hear you're ok and still with us. Thanks for all of your work running this blog.
Ignore the jerks, the rest of us (quiet majority) really appreciate the blog and all of your work maintaining it.
thanks,
frequent reader, infrequent poster
Thanks for the your kind words you frequent reader!
Good job Snoopy! Keep in mind there are a lot of corrupt people in very high places that would love for this Blog to go away because it's revealing all the cover-ups, corruption, money squandering, and management failures at LANS/LLNS. Not to mention the failure of the limited liability corporation (LLC) concept at the Labs.
It is Scooby, not Snoopy. Snoopy is totally unrelated to me.

Such is the caliber of your posters. Clueless or drunk, or both.

Fine. Incidentally, what is it you have to offer? Do you have nothing better to do than read this blog and complain about the posters? Get a life!

Well, at least my life is not tied up in the LANS/LLNS "complain about everything" crap. Posters who post crap should expect to be called on it. Real ideas, new thoughts, non-nihilistic musings, anyone? Is there any actual life out there? Anybody interested in talking about the real work the labs are doing? The real needs of national security? The real ways to achieve worker security and morale in the current environment? All you brilliant scientists seem a little limited in your viewpoints.

Amen brother, someone who gets it!
We are hear for a reason. We are sick "I am so smart" scientist whining and moaning. Man up and do your jobs. Your fancy education sure as hell did not teach you how to do real work. LLNLS and LANS are hear for a reason people, it is becuse you did not get it. It is the culter that the labs bred that needs to be changed. The labs are not your personal sandbox. It is about security, safety and needs. Hell can you brianicas skin a buck or run a trotline?

You gave yourself away with that anti-education garbage. I am the October 11, 2011 7:21 PM poster and you are part of the problem not part of the solution. And don't call me "brother." PS - learn to spell.

Judging from your previous posts where you mock brilliant scientists it is fairly clear that you are rather anti-intellectual. I would also add that there has been many examples of posts providing valuable observations about the labs, how to improve the labs, how perceptions have been wrong, and the dangers of having a for-profit company running the labs. You simply choose to ignore these posts.
I would guess you have some kind of agenda, and if so lets hear what it is. You repeatedly insist that there are no posts of any substance on the blog so now it is your turn, and at the very least you could explain why you have a problem with scientists. If you do not like the blog or think it has nothing to offer than offer something or stop complaining.

First, I'm at a loss to know how you would determine that a given poster "ignores" posts. Second, I don't have anything against scientists, I am one; Ph.D. 1977 in physics from a prestigious East Coast university I will not name. I worked over 30 years at LANL. Third, I did not say that "there are no posts of any substance on the blog", I simply said that the complainers need to find a new, and more thoughtful, song to sing. I think you may have me confused with the 10/11 10:31 pm hunting/fishing/trotline/buck skinning/survivalist guy who apparently thinks that's his road to a successful, profitable, wealthy life.
How about an occupy Livermore or Los Alamos rally? After all we had a corporate takeover sent more than 200 mill a year to to company to make the labs less efficient and less productive. At this point every one agrees that every single thing at the labs have gotten worse, it was even predicted exactly how they would get worse before the takeover. Could be that politicians where bought off by a big corporation and neither care one bit about the mission of the labs or the United States, only about getting richer and getting more power. I am a firm believer in
capitalism but not corrupt or crony capitalism. Perhaps the OWS people have a deeper point about the general decline of the United States. Maybe we are slowly turning into Mexico, a completely corrupt but capitalist country.
Why exactly where the labs turned over to for profit companies again?
What where the reasons?

You obviously didn't live through it, or were just not paying attention. The reasons were given, and nobody had a vote. You had a choice to leave or stay. If you stayed, you got what they gave you. If you left, maybe you are better off, maybe not. There is no fairness or security in life. If your parents failed to teach you that, then you are at a distinct disadvantage to those whose parents did teach them that.

I think you missed the point of the post. The poster was suggesting that it is possible the official reasons given for the change in contract where a total lie and it was all about money and that was it, nothing more nothing less. The decline of the labs is simply a small part of the overall decline of the United States as we become increasingly corrupt. The "occupy" movements represent a general feeling that something has been going wrong. I know people in the military and they also say that they are in a general decline and part of that has been the rise of non-military contractors running more and more operations but adding no real value.
We cannot pay to have proper armor for our soldiers but Blackwater Mercs get paid 10 times what soldiers are paid. Guess who pays for both, you guessed it the taxpayer, where is the value added? Just as LLNLs came in you have to ask where has the value added. You can always say large corporations are just the result of the free market at work, however how many times do we here of vary fishy deals been made and funny regulations that essentially allow certain large companies to bypass rules that smaller business have to obey. In other words there was no actual free market.
